There Is No Limit to Continue to Know God

TOPIC: “There Is No Limit to Continue to Know God” 1 Corinthians 2:1-8

I. First step to know God:

A. Have faith in Christ and that it be a faith based on the power of God (Vs. 5).

1. We begin to live in a different way when we know the Lord.

2. When one knows the Lord one can live with much wisdom. (Wisdom is the conjoint of broad and deep knowledge that is acquired through study or experience.) It is to have intelligence, to have knowledge and an in-depth understanding of a certain topic. It is the advanced comprehension that one has of an issue.) We long to know God like this!

3. One lives in Christ through that faith, but it is necessary for us to have Paul's thoughts in order to reach GOD'S WISDOM IN MYSTERY (Vs. 6, 7).

4. There should be in our lives this great interest to live as "if we knew nothing else but Christ, and Him, crucified." (Vs. 2)

5. It is clear that the history of Jesus' life and work, has an unparalleled power to move hearts. In Christ there is power!

6. When we are with common mortals, a graphic description of the events has more effect than any argument, we not only seek for them to hear, but to see the power of God in action!

7. The path to the innermost being does not go through the head but through the heart.

8. The apostle Paul brought the message of Christ to the Corinthians and he himself says that when he came to them he arrived with weakness, aware of his insufficiency, he came to them with fear and tremble (Vs. 3). When Paul was getting ready to speak to them he felt respect and a great sense of responsibility. He becomes anxious about respect and the sense of responsibility of leading them to God. There is mystery here.

9. It was better for the apostle to reach them with results through the power of God and not just with words. His preaching was demonstrated incontestably by the Spirit and by power. Lives were changed! A recreating power (that renews lives) had begun to act in Corinth's corrupt society!

10. So that our faith will not be based on the wisdom of men but rather on the power of God (Vs. 5)! Someone has said that: "A saint is in one in whom Christ returns to live again." No human means when we speak the Gospel, no human wisdom. The success in speaking about Christ to your loved ones can only be attributed to the power of God!

B. Wisdom is spoken to the one who has reached maturity (Vs.6).

1. Wisdom, which is not of this age, nor of the princes of this age.

2. It is the wisdom of God in mystery, the hidden wisdom (Vs.7).

3. It is not wisdom of this world, it is not philosophy, nor is it the wisdom of the princes of this world, as are the politicians and all those constituted in power and authority.

4. Because everyone here on earth is disappearing ("... who perish.").

5. Thus perish the powers of politicians, philosophers and false teachers of the Word.

6. In the human wisdom of politicians, philosophers, etc. There is no good for man, because in them there are only limited thoughts in power and strength.

7. But, divine wisdom does have strength, it does have power!

8. God's wisdom is contained in GOD'S SAVING PLAN FOR ALL.

9. (Vs.7) Paul is saying: "Let us proceed to explain things that can only be understood by those who have already given their hearts to Jesus Christ."

10. That wisdom that is a gift from God has come to us; that gift has come with Jesus Christ.

11. Only the student who puts as much as possible on their part can become capable of receiving the true riches of the mind of a great teacher.

12. And that is what happens to us with God.

13. The more we strive to understand, the more God communicates to us!

14. And that process has no limit! There is no limit to continue to know God! Amen.
