Topic: "To Inculcate Charity" Ecclesiastes 11:1-6

TO INCULCATE is to make a person think and act differently than usual by proper conviction or by the influence of "reasons" and "motives" given by others. When you come to the Lord the Holy Spirit wants to take you to what is the feeling of the Father, and it is necessary that thru the Word of God you allow yourself to be educated so that you can be lead to the path of perfection. GOD INCULCATES IN US CHARITY. IT IS OUR DUTY TO HELP THE NEEDY, FIRST TO LOVE AND HENCE IT WON’T BE TOO DIFFICULT. The Bible teaches us the great principle of loving God over all things and your neighbor as yourself. CHARITY is a feeling that impulses you to be interested in others. This way we want to help the ones who need the most. It is when your life is filled with compassion. Here in Ecclesiastes when it says: "Take the bread upon the waters..." it speaks of the duty of being charitable. To take the bread upon the waters refers to throw the seed or grain of wheat over the waters. In ancient times this technique of planting was used when sailing in boats in the overflowing waters of the river. From the boats the seeds were thrown on the overflowing waters, so that when the waters withdrew the seeds would remain planted and then germinate, grow and give fruit. The seed remained planted in the swampy ground. The grains were washed away by the water stream and after the withdrawal of the waters they remained deposited in the soil and then the grain sprouted. Those who throw the bread over the waters will have provision for their needs. The day you need the bread, the fruit of what you sowed to meet your needs will be waiting. If you give you will be given. Galatians 6: 7 "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." According to what you plant you will gather. Our charity within our possibilities will have no limit. You cannot give what you don’t have, but be clear, that if you spend everything on yourself that is something else, that is called damnation. We have to give! Distribute your bread! It's a mandate! Everyone likes to hand out other people’s bread, but not theirs. You can see it in fundraising marathons; those who lead the event will sell you a candle or wrist, they make others buy. Then, those in charge of the marathons use most of the money raised to "pay for the event and other expenses." They request it, they compromise others and ultimately they shine as the givers. Let us not deceive ourselves, let us give without compromising others. Ecclesiastes 11: 2 "Give portions to seven, yes to eight..." Seven is the perfect number. Eight is more than seven; that is a whole lot, yes, to the many needy. "...for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land." You do not know when calamity will come and with it the opportunity to continue to do well. It may be near the day when you will need the relief of those who have been linked to you for your kindness. May we be delivered from the evil that comes upon the earth because we are generous in giving! The bad times ripen and we can see it today, evil has come to our small island. Have we planted? Is there a harvest? Evil is necessary to shudder us and see if we have given or not to the needy. Look and make sure today if you have planted the seed of liberality (of aid, of giving). Ecclesiastes 11: 3 "...whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there will it lie." Once the tree falls it remains towards the north or the south, according to how it has fallen. So is the character of the man who

is immutable, who cannot be changed or altered, either to go to hell or to heaven the day when death reaches him. The only thing that can save him from hell is to accept Christ as his Savior. This way God changes men’s life and heart to be a giver loving his neighbor. Ecclesiastes 11: 4 "Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap." So do not fear; even if there is a hurricane knocking down everything do not stop to sow or fear the downpours, because if you do not sow you will not have a harvest. IF YOU CLOSE YOUR HAND TO NOT GIVE because the clouds, the winds and even the rain seem to demolish everything in the storm, you're wrong. SOW, because the bad time will pass and later you will be able to gather the harvest! If you don’t, you will have empty barns. You will reveal how you do and if you will believe God in this! If you complain, cry and regret, well you will be like the others; you will lack belief, you will lack faith in God. Do not complain, do not have regret, believe God and you will reap. Sow until you have no strength! Do not observe the wind because then you will not sow and by not sowing you will neither have anything to collect. YOUR CHARITY- IT IS THE SOWING OF YOUR FAITH! Do it without hesitation about the results. It will turn out bad for the farmer who instead of planting or reaping passes the time looking at the wind and the clouds. Men are commanded to hurl their grain for bread upon the waters. This promise does not seem to appear so obvious as you cannot plant in any water; it is upon the land according to the order that God gave. But, it is what God says, so do not look at what is stopping you and act so you can have a harvest, don’t waste time watching the clouds, the rain and the winds. Sow! Make use of your charity! Ecclesiastes 11: 5 ". As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things." The wind here is like the spirit that gives life to the body. Thus the transition to the idea of the formation of the body in the womb. Men are unable to control atmospheric phenomena which are under God’s control. We see our dependence of God in things that are beyond our control. So, as the great and sovereign God is who instructs us, let us not be weary in OUR DUTY TO TAKE EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO DO WELL. We the creatures ignore God’s large and complex work and we are unaware of the way of the Spirit of God, therefore, let us go by Him believing what He promises us and what He tells us to do. Let us live and always do well. This message is for the young and the old. Let's do it early or late, it does not matter, let us do it always. We must sow while our strength allows us without waiting for the wind to blow one way or the other. Well, we do not know which seed will prosper more, the morning one or the evening one, or both. Whether it is under the sun or under the clouds, may your deeds be pious, being a FAITHFUL SOWER. Don’t look at whom or consider anything, your duty is to sow. It is not to wonder which will prosper or which will not, this or the other, well it is possible that both bear good fruit; the faithful sower will undoubtedly take the seed and plant it. Do not worry about looking at the faces, worry about throwing the seed upon the waters, it is not our duty to seek the security of the land. Stay calm as it is God who has entrusted you! Amen.
