The Holy Spirit Dwells in Believers

TOPIC: “The Holy Spirit Dwells in Believers” Ezekiel 36:26, 27

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” The Lord will give a NEW HEART to all those who believe Him; and let us understand… THE HEART IS A SOURCE OF BEHAVIOR! (Mathew12:34, 35) He will place within those who believe a NEW SPIRIT! The spirit is the breath that encourages the actions. The believer will have, well a new mentality. Those who believe God, He will give them a new heart instead of the heart of stone they had. He changes their heart, the old heart which was hardened and obstinate in following its own and wicked ways. God will put in the chest thru the new Spirit a heart of flesh, understand that this does not refer to a carnal heart (which is fond of the sinful things of the flesh) but rather one that is tender, submissive and obedient. It refers to a sensitive heart that responds properly to all the demands of the law and God’s grace. And the only way this could become a reality in our lives is when God puts in us His own Holy Spirit. There is no other way in which men can respond with obedience and submission to all of God’s demands. We are encouraged by God’s own Spirit! It's the only way we will be capable of fulfilling all of God’s commandments! We must understand and acknowledge that Moses law provided men with the knowledge of sin (the diagnostic). BUT IT DID NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY TO AVOID IT OR CURE IT. (Romans 3:20 "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin."). God gives us in Christ the opportunity to enter in the spiritual regeneration that He himself called “to be born again” (John 3: 3). Beloved, what is born from the Spirit is spirit (John 3: 6). If you are born from the Spirit during all your life you will have the spiritual things in you! John 3:10 Here the Lord Jesus tells Nicodemus: "You are Israel’s teacher, and do you not understand these things?" Jesus gave Nicodemus the great prophecy he should have remembered. Today, we should also know and remember with all clarity. John 14: 16-17 "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever- the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you." Sometimes it seems that we do not know these things and that is why the Lord wants to make us clearly understand just as He let Nicodemus know. If we love Him and we want to serve Him we need to keep His commandments. You cannot expect consolation any other way that is no the fulfillment of the duty. By fulfilling His commandments you will receive consolation, don’t expect your consolation to come from another source or some seek in prophecies and in dreams. God asks of men and shows them how to come out of their egocentrism and demonstrate in their obedience the love they have for Him. The world does not acknowledge Him but we indeed know Him. WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE WORLD RULES, THE SPIRIT OF GOD REMAINS EXCLUDED. The greatest knowledge of the Holy Spirit is the one that is acquired thru the intimate experience of a personal communion with Him. Rom. 8: 9 “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God

lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." You need to live according to the Spirit! Not in the flesh! Paul cherishes the hope that the Christians from Rome be diligent in following the impulses of God’s Spirit and in this way progress in their sanctification, well the sign that God’s Spirit dwells in them is that He exercises in their lives His sanctifying power. Otherwise, there are motives to believe that the person has not received Christ! 1 Corinthians 3:16 "Don’t you know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" We are God's temple and we are filled with the Holy Spirit! We ourselves are the temple and who dwells within us is the Holy Spirit! Therefore the entire person of the believer is devoted to God’s service. Christians are saints, holy by profession and should conserve themselves clean and pure by preservation. One has to avoid at all expense to be taken out of the sacred; so that there will be no harm when separating from the Holy Spirit; it would be death. You are temple and in that temple dwells the most sacred, and this is the greatest thing that could happen to people as common as we are. To live in the Holy Spirit is to serve God in holiness. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit, not flesh! Amen.
