Topic: “When He Had Finished Speaking With Him, God Went Up” Genesis 17:22 God makes Himself present to make promises to those He loves and chooses. He revealed himself and talked to Abraham about what He would do with him and his descendants. Such is God’s relationship with those who seek Him. That man, Abraham, needed a son in order to have descendants, because there would be a nation that would arise from the seed of this man chosen by God. It could not have been achieved with Abraham’s strength because everything was impossible. Everything was incapable for Sarah, Abraham’s wife: Sarah’s womb, Sarah’s age, and Sarah’s resignation. They could not struggle and achieve this; there was nobody that could help them under those circumstances. What does God do in such cases? God had to get to Abraham to hear him. God left everything in heaven to come and listen and to do with that man His holy will; He promised him a child in his old age and He conceded it. Later, Isaac was born! Genesis 17:22 “When he had finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him.” And after having talked to him, God went up from being with Abraham. This is how God is, HE COMES TO ASSIST OUR LIVES! He has to make Himself present so that we may deal with what is upon us. Let us see another case like Abraham’s. Moses was that man to whom would be given from heaven God’s Law: the Ten Commandments. That perfect law would come from God, so it had to be with God with whom Moses would have a personal encounter (Exodus 19:20 “The LORD descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain…”). It was God who knew perfectly man’s need, of that chosen nation. God was the only one that could bring it to perfection, so God would give them the commandments. No one can do on his own something so perfect, so God will come to those who want to be guided by Him. So Moses approached the thick darkness seeking God so that He may talk to him. He had no fear or insecurity; he knew he had an appointment there with God. God had come down to be with Moses that chosen day; then there shouldn’t be any fear, just the confidence that THE ONE THAT DESCENDED WOULD BE THE ONE THAT WOULD SPEAK TO HIM! We can see that Moses believed the Lord because with obedience and confidence he approached Him in the darkness. Exodus 20:21 “The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.” God had already spoken to him from heaven, but now He was making himself present right there to talk to him according to their needs. Jeremiah 23:22-23 “But if they had stood in my council, they would have proclaimed my words to my people and would have turned them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds.23 “Am I only a God nearby,” declares the LORD, “and not a God far away?” What is important here is: TO STAND IN HIS SECRET! If you are close to Him, then you can listen to what God wants to say to you. Of course, it is easier to consult with men! But men are limited; God is not limited! God’s omnipresence allows Him to clearly see all we need from Him. He is not only a God when He is nearby, in His power He is also a God from far away! It is only a matter of BELIEVING HIM! It would be easier for men on earth if they would believe. God fills the whole universe! Then, CAN YOU BELIEVE HIM WHO CAN HEAR AND ANSWER YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR NEED? Hebrews 10:22 “ Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.” With a sincere heart! If we are going to approach God, it has to be with a sincere heart. Unfortunately, deceit is something men do to themselves, to family, to the church, and to the Pastor. But no one can go to God in deceit. You go to Him with great sincerity! Convinced that we believe Him. In full certainty that we believe Him. Purified of all our deceits, lies, bad habits, addictions, pornography, sex changes, and wickedness. Our bodies cleansed by the blood of Jesus! Not forfeiting the blood because of having sinned with our bodies, for when we sin we remove the blood and are then unclean. With the precious blood of Jesus applied to our bodies with the power of the Holy Spirit! And to reach total renunciation of sin by the baptism, as has been established by the Lord Jesus Christ for all who believe in Him for salvation. Revelations 3:4 “Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy.” Jesus Christ requires of us not to soil our garments. If we so obey, God will walk with us. Only a few are willing to preserve themselves clean! White clothes can get stained, but The Holy Spirit cannot be deceived. When you walk with stained garments it means you are not walking with God, but that you walk holding hands with Lucifer himself! Who, if he would make himself present, looking at him could know who that devil is that wants to condemn you! But, the devil hides! Meanwhile, God makes Himself present! God would only walk with those who have white garments. Only those who keep their garments clean here on earth are worthy. Those who walk with the devil walk with black garments with their lies and pleasures; they are cruel and wicked, with a false smile simulating that everything is alright, but with redden eyes cry out showing the flame that burns in a body soiled by sin! Escape from the darkness of the devil, from the lies and the deceit; approach God with a pure and sincere heart and you will be worthy and you will hear your God’s words, for your good and the blessings of your own.
