Every Child of God Should Be Guided By the Spirit

Topic: “Every Child of God Should Be Guided By the Spirit” Romans 8:12-14 Something we should always meditate about: be careful with our flesh! The desire to live in the Spirit should always be in us. Notice how much shame we go through because of our flesh; because of it we go through pains, sadness, ruins, sorrows and all that which is bad for our lives. There are great losses when one lives in the flesh and suffer bitterly. What we should seek and what we need to struggle for is for guidance of the Spirit. We should never allow our flesh to guide us. We can see the great contrast there is between the flesh and the Spirit. Don’t ever think that the Spirit will give you the flesh an opportunity to guide it, no, there’s no way. We should, as creatures of God that we are, come to the conclusion that “WE OWE NOTHING TO THE FLESH TO LIVE ACCORDING TO ITS DICTATION.” The flesh has its rules, indications, and suggestions of how it sees things, but the spiritual do not see or follow things this way. The flesh has never done any good to our lives. If Christ wouldn’t have saved us the flesh would have dragged us to the deepest, dark and burning places of Hell. What obligation or commitment can we have with an enemy like that! How many times are you mistaken and see as your enemy the one who guides you spiritually and you can’t see that it is your flesh that wants to destroy you? You hide from me, the pastor that I am, and you talk about me. On occasions you call me “Pastor” and in your worse moments you call me “She”, contemptuously; but I am not your enemy, it is your flesh! What obligation do you have with your true enemy which is your flesh? Understand well, that I am the pastor, not your enemy. When you are obligated to someone or to something it is because there has been a commitment; the man who neglects his relationship with God is involved in his flesh. We need to break through the flesh, it does much harm and can drive you to the worse: to perdition. Romans 8:13 “…For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death misdeeds of the body, you will live.” The flesh kills whoever yields to its conditions. When one is linked to the flesh, one has that tie, a knot that involves us in evilness. The person will know that he is linked to what will lead him to die. Those who allow themselves to be bonded to the flesh will be taken to die eternally before a living God full of justice and righteousness. To live according to the flesh will result in not being saved. Regrettably, there are no excuses, or reasons, or great justifications, nor the sorrows we can fell due to the affection we may feel for the lives. The word says so “…For if you live according to the sinful nature, YOU WILL DIE!” We have to see how great the love and mercy of God is who gives the path to those who want to be saved: “…but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.” There are always great warnings in the Sacred Scriptures. We can see this in Friday’s bible study; Moses or well Jesus gave the people of Israel many warnings so they wouldn’t perish or lose God’s blessings; just the same the prophets were always warning the people so they would be delivered. It is the warnings that lead us to selfexamination. If we examine ourselves with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will have the opportunity to recognize our condition and separate ourselves from living in the flesh to begin to live in the Spirit. This is why it can be understood that many who attend the church have never been genuinely saved. It is because they have not wanted to die to the flesh that drives them to fall again in lies, deception, robbery, bad habits, pleasures and how many more things in which we lived before. When you are righteous you always autoexamine yourself and this way enter your heart in order to overcome what brings you death for with God. One genuine characteristic of a believer is the following: TO KILL THE DEEDS OF THE FLESH! When one decides to be guided by the Spirit then one will rejoice in eternal life and will enter life in all its abundance when one abandons this world. The true believer is known because he/she is guided by the Holy Spirit of God. We think that being guided by the Holy Spirit is to become a great preacher, evangelist, missionary, leader, to have great campaigns, etc. But this is not so. The truth is that to be guided by the Holy Spirit is for all believers, all God’s children. It is not a matter of the level in which one gives in to the Holy Spirit, but rather it is a relation that is inaugurated the moment the conversation takes place. The affiliation, that union and descendance of the Spirit, implies the entry to become a part of the family of God with all the privileges and responsibilities of adult children. There are no special privileges here for anyone to do as they please. Your spiritual inheritance is for you the day you convert; in that moment you begin to

live and be guided by the Spirit. The more willing you are it will become more present in your life this guidance. How do you know if you are guided by the Spirit? Because He gives testimony of everything! Amen.
