TOPIC: “From Generation to Generation We Will Celebrate His Deeds” Psalm 145:4-7 The work of God and the powerful acts will be celebrated from generation to generation (vs. 4). The canticle (song) will never cease. The psalmist does not doubt that one generation will direct another generation to celebrate God’s works. When such greatness has not been taken to others it is because, obviously, the greatness of the Almighty has not been acknowledged. One takes what he has! One takes what has been known and appreciated as of great value. The impious and even many so-called Christians take to others hatred, lies, hypocrisy, mediocrity; that is what they take. When you have known God you take His greatness! Why are we to glorify God? For the greatness of His glory, for the power of His marvelous acts, for His unlimited kindness. It is this God whom we serve. If we see how great God is, we will celebrate and speak of His greatness. We will do and be like those who followed Him; for example, we know of the love of John for Jesus, of the zeal of Paul for His Master and for the Lord's church, for the mantle, strap and blessing of Elijah. We esteem everything as it were our own; it is something that concerns us that belongs to us. It is for us and we appreciate it, we celebrate it and it is useful to take our own to the feet of Jesus, so that they may acknowledge that great power that is within Him. We will sing, say, tell of His mighty acts (vs. 4). I can’t speak of myself nor of you; I’ll speak of his mighty acts. He has done miracles, He breaks chains, listens to prayers. He gave himself in everything for us to bless us with His salvation and great wonders. I will meditate in the splendor of the glory of God (vs. 5). In His magnificence, for such reason, of His greatness is what I must teach to others. I cannot content myself by speaking about robberies, of frauds, of how bad things are. Things were worse during the times of Noah and our God took charge of ending the wickedness that reigned and also put an end to Sodom and Gomorrah. That is why we will always talk of the greatness and beauty of God more than anything else or theme, of the splendor of the glory of His majesty, of His maximum perfection; that is our God. All that has to do with the great King is majestic, honorable and glorious. His honor is something glorious; He is of all marvelous! "And I will proclaim your great deeds" (vs. 6). The psalmist himself will meditate with gratitude in the beauty of the glory of the majestic God. His greatness is manifested in His marvelous deeds of liberation. When we truly decide to love Him it is because we will always live admiring His greatness. That maximum greatness only lies in God; let us not seek greatness in anything else; if you seek for it in the world you will have failure and destruction. All the history demonstrates the human creature waiting to reach worldly glory. We can hear of Alexander the Great, the king Ahasuerus, of Cyrus, of Nebuchadnezzar; all were called "the Great." However, in spite of their notoriety, they all remained shorthanded; each one

knew of his fragility and his many limitations. It is said that when Alexander the Great arrived to the Ganges (a river at India) he ordered a statue to be made of him bigger than his natural size so that the posterity would believe that he was of a great height. It is only in Christ that men can reach the greatness that their heart desires, the greatness of having the great God in his life, the glory of experiencing the perfect kindness and Justice of God within him. Men will speak of the power of God and David’s amazing deeds; the Psalmist will continue to declare the greatness of the Lord. "They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of sing of your righteousness." Men will proclaim the memory of His immense kindness. In every place people will expose with enthusiasm the fame of the great kindness of the Lord. And the greatness of His justice will be the theme of joyful canticles. God is not praised in absolute but rather praised in a great way. The weak and dull praises minimize the true greatness of God. For a person or thing to be honored properly there has to be a proportion between the honor and the praise. Let us not become tired of worshipping Him, honoring and celebrating His greatness; may we always have joyful mouths that praise the Lord. We will never exceed or exaggerate in praising and exalting His name. We say we have enthusiasm, but we haven’t even arrived at half of what we’re missing. Let us be more enthusiastic! Let us demonstrate greater fervor. There are too many witnesses of the goodness of God, but many are silent witnesses. Men do not speak enough about the works of the Lord; they are very limited in giving testimonies of the greatness of the Lord. They should have a good tongue to speak and praise God at the height of His piety. "And they will sing of your righteousness." (vs. 7). A large percentage of ungodly men would eliminate the idea of justice in their notion of what God is, but we who are converted never will. To rejoice in justice, in righteousness and in the holiness of our God is a sign of growth in the sanctification. There are few men who cry out with joy before the justice of the LORD, but those who do are His chosen in whom His soul delights. Only the cross declares God's justice for the remission of sins. The cross magnifies justice when the sin is forgiven. How great is His love and mercy! Let us love God. Let us exalt His great name as does the Psalmist. Let us declare His works and His power, celebrate His greatness, His goodness and justice. Let us relish His salvation and magnify His name. Let us announce and teach all about the Creator, Lord and Savior, the greatest in the whole universe. Let us speak of the greatest in our lives! Amen.
