The Love of God Towards Us

Hope does not bring shame, so God teaches us in His Word. If we were to be expecting something that we find out later we would never receive, then that would be a frustrated hope that would embarrass us. But, our hope for salvation will never bring disappointment. We will never be frustrated or find that we have rested on a false confidence. Just as God has promised, our salvation will be fulfilled in its entirety. How can we be so sure of this? Because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given to us. The moment you believe, your heart is flooded with these expressions of God's eternal love. That love assures us that He will take us healthy and safe to the celestial home. After we have received the Holy Spirit we will realize that God loves us. So then, there is a deep-seated conviction that God really loves you and me. I recall the image of a lady of the age of 82 that could feel God's love for her when several Christians from Puerto Rico who represent the love of God came to her home in Peru. Paul understood the Father's love. (Romans 8:8) This love is supernatural. It is celestial; it is not of this world. We know the love of the world in exchange for benefits, self-interest, or utilities. It is the rule of this world, if someone does not get what they want they break what was called love. But, the love of God is different. The way in which God showed His love was sending His Son to die for us. We must understand that this love comes as the sovereign will of God Himself. There was not any good in us so that we could expect to receive such love. There is nothing good in us. As God loved Jeremiah so He loves us, with everlasting love. (Jeremiah 31:3) With eternal love He has loved me. It is not with an ancient love, but with an eternal love. He loves me and He loves you since God is God. His love is one that never expires. Nothing or no one can separate us from that love. (Romans 8:39). Nothing created can take away such love. Ephesians 2:3, 4 says that before we lived in the lusts of our flesh, in the will of the flesh and thoughts, and that by nature we were children of wrath. But the God of power has made a prodigious change because He loved us. He made a change from doom and despair, delivering us from the valley of death and leading us to the untold pleasures of the kingdom of His Son, the kingdom of God. The change is originated in Heaven, the author is God Himself. No one else could have done it; no one else would have wanted to do it. I assure you that no one would do it for me. A characteristic or feature of this "blessed" being is that He is rich in mercy. He allows us to see His mercies, not treating us the way we deserve to be treated. It is an inexhaustible mine of wealth for us, even if He has been doing it for centuries. His intervention in our life has been because of His great love for us. His love is great because He Himself, God, is the source. The love of God is great; it can be seen in the price He paid. He sent the Lord Jesus, God's only Son, to die for us in the agony of the cross of Calvary. (John 3:16) If you are a child, you have wealth poured upon yourself because of the love of God. Ephesians 2:5 We were enemies of God, we were dead in our sins. God’s great love for us is seen knowing that we had a condition so sinful and repulsive, that we were dead in our transgressions and sins, and now we are loved. We were enemies of God, we were destroyed and in degradation, but in spite of everything He loved us. We have been vivified, raised together with Him, seated with Him in heavenly places. Ephesians 2: 6 This is the result of our union with Him; that is our spiritual position. He is our representative, not only for us, but as us. He died, so did we; He was buried, so were we. All those painful steps He went through and the benefits obtained, that He was crucified, resurrected and seated in heavenly places; it is the same with us. Now we have life with Him. We have received the grace, we received salvation we did not deserve; we received it as a gift, not like something we gained thru some effort. And it comes to us from the one who had no obligation to give it. Glory to his name forever! Amen.
