Theme: “What God Demands From Me Is That I Humble Myself Like A Child” Matthew 18: 1-5 Our “I” is very ambitious for everything. Our acts show that each person seeks his own personal interests, completely opposite to the Kingdom of God. Philippians 2:21 Like citizens from God’s Kingdom, we have to be very careful of how that “I” is growing or dying in us. These ambitions torture and deform our being. Nowadays, the least that the citizens of God’s Kingdom do is forget about themselves and allow God’s plan to take place. Our own person is the one that is always ahead. Let’s seek to erase the “I”, to consume it as much as possible in order to live a life that intends to dedicate itself to the service to God constantly. Let’s not dedicate ourselves to seek personal glory and power because the “I” demands us too much, and that is very dangerous. Those who were near Jesus were preparing their “I” in what could be personal power and not aiming at the spiritual kingdom. When one considers their person as the most important thing in the world, it is because they have turned their back on God’s Kingdom and what they seek is power and not to serve. We have come to serve. We should turn our backs on the world and face the King. The “I” is very sensitive. As long as we are facing God’s Kingdom, it is because we have become humble. Sometimes as years go by, instead of continuing to grow in humbleness, we grow in pride. Jesus knows perfectly how men are. It is not natural of the human being to be humble, but what rather he likes is to boast himself. Let us be like children, a child is never seeking to simulate others; a child is just like he is. We began the path of Christ, a path where the truth lies that brings us well-being. Jesus wanted his disciples to understand that they had to assume a position of humbleness in their interior, like a small child is. It seems impossible that we be as humble as children. Nowadays, the important thing is to occupy a high position, a high position before people. But to humble ourselves like a child is what God demands. In the world we can see that the most selfish ones get what they want and have the most advantage, but in the Lord’s Kingdom it is not like this. The thoughts of Christ should be our thoughts. The Lord was always looking to serve. Nowadays, our thoughts are not similar to the thoughts of Jesus or to a child, but instead there is a lot of deformity. In a child we can see the qualities that should characterize the Kingdom of God. A child is silent and does not pretend because they depend on their parents. In the same way, we should depend completely on God. It becomes difficult for us to live like children in this century. A child has the capacity to forgive even all cruelty towards him. A child has so much immaturity, but he is happy. Even if we receive lashes, we should weep and conserve our heart, and not allow hatred or evilness in us. The church’s position should be like a child’s. To be humble is very difficult and to accept. But, we seek the Kingdom of Heaven. It is better to be humble because when we are not humble, we speak with bitterness. A child will never think about destroying others, that is why God wants us to lower our thought to a child’s level and act like them. The Kingdom of Heavens belongs to those who are capable of being meek like a child. If we do not put an end to the desire for greatness, it will destroy friendships and many other things. Where is the glory of the human being, if today we do it right and tomorrow, we do not? After all, to serve is for us. That desire for greatness destroys us; it is an opposition to the service. The desire for greatness destroys the lives of many good leaders. May the desire to serve attract us. A child does not pretend anything, he passes unnoticed. We should learn to get by unnoticed. The Kingdom is for those who do not pretend. A child remains in the shadow; he does not seek to be prominent. It is better to be in the shadow than to pretend to be great, since God is the one who sees us and rewards us if we do it right. What we should conserve is a humble heart. There is a Kingdom for us for which we have to fight because it will belong to those who conserve themselves as children. Nowadays we live in a competitive world with a fierce battle for prizes and first places. We have left behind the humbleness which we should have. We are always looking for the first place. A child, on the contrary, depends on others; this is proper of them. The Father wants us to have the position of children and as such He wants to form us, but He can’t as long as we struggle to outstand as an adult. As long as we occupy the position of a child, we will depend on God, and we will have the Kingdom of Heaven for ourselves. To be humble is to have God’s Kingdom. Those who humble themselves will be exalted. There is no greater glory in a man than humiliation; it is not the defense he can make. The humblest believer is the best Christian and is the most similar to Christ. Nowadays the adults do not trust, they do not like to receive advice or to be guided. A child is the complete manifestation of the word humble. That is what God wants for our lives. Let us stop being so clever. The more we act like a child, the more useful we will be for God’s work. Then we will have a better relationship with others. We have been chosen for the Kingdom of Heaven. Why do we have to be so opinionated, when it is better to continue to walk forward? The adult is

suspicious of everything; a child believes everything. It is difficult to live with so much distrust. Sometimes, we think that excelling is the greatest thing. Let us be like a child and appreciate our own value. Let us be capable of loving with great intensity. When another one excels, a child applauds, but when an adult excels, we become small. In occasions, we sit to be served thinking that we are greater and that we deserve it, but in the Kingdom of Heaven we will not rise because of our greatness, but for being small. Our service demands devotion. Jesus was dedicated to serve, let us be like Him, and we will gain more for God’s Kingdom. AMEN.
