TOPIC: “I Will Seek For God To Be The Only And Great Support Of My Life!” 2 Chronicles 14:9-12; 16:2-4, 7-9 There are many things offered to us where we can find support, but we must understand, beloved, that our perfect and only support comes from Jehovah. And there is nothing or anyone where we can find support to be perfectly assuring as the Lord. But, our whole life is a matter of faith; it consists in believing in God and putting all our trust in Him. God is pleased with those who believe Him. Luke 7:6, 7, 9 Since our path is a path of faith, that faith that we have in God is constantly tested through everything we have to live. A child of God has to be tested; there is a long path to travel struggling to conquer. We must understand that each day is a new day that brings its own anxiety. Therefore, we cannot lean on other men like us, no matter how talented, wise or powerful they may seem, because we are only mortals and no man can sustain us, or deliver us and lead us to be winners. We have a good example in the Bible to illustrate this, that God should be our only and marvelous support. God spoke to King Asa who was the king of Judah and told him that He would be with him if he would seek Him. God wanted to support and sustain that king and his nation. 2 Chronicles 15:1-2 When it occurs to men to seek support in other men, it is because they are seeking their own personal interest, seeking to be told what they want to hear and that will harm them very much. Blessed are those who are courageous and faithful to say exactly what the Lord says. We have to admire those ancient prophets who were courageous enough to tell the nations and the kings only what Jehovah wanted to say and not what they wanted to hear. It occurred to King Asa, from the city of Judah, to reason how to defend themselves from the threat of another nearby king, King Baasha of Israel. Asa, who depended before on his God, now began to reason, to seek human solutions. Asa did not think well and looked for support from Ben-Hadad, King of Syria, and in exchange for his protection, he negotiated with the gold and silver that belonged to God’s House. 2 Chronicles 16:3 Asa was not brave and handed everything he had to the king of Syria. When we come to an agreement with human beings to support us, it means that we sold our faith and the love we had professed towards God. When you surrender the dedication you had for the Lord and your strength and the work of your service to someone else, you begin to limit yourself and to lose before God. If you surrender your communion and the love you have for God for an unfair cause because of your children, spouse, parents, neighbors or anyone else, remember that you will be playing with what God has given you. Matthew 10:37-39 Many times we negotiate what God has given us, the sacred, the pure, the sanctification, the search, fasting, prayer, just to be OK with everyone else or for something we expect to obtain at any cost. We should never do this, not ever. Our time with God should not be given to anyone. If we give up on our hours of prayer, then we will lean on mankind, who cannot sustain anyone in this life and much less in the next life. King Asa gambled with everything that God had given him; he made an alliance with the enemy forgetting what God had told him, “Jehovah will be with you.” 2 Chronicles 15:2 How easily men forget their commitment with God and the word God has given them! 2 Chronicles 16:8 Let us be careful! When fear overcomes us we forget we have made an agreement with Jehovah. Asa had forgotten that God had called him to deliver him from Baasha, King of Israel and also Ben-Hadad, King of Syria, and that God would give him victory with all the enemies surrounding him. But, as time goes by, just as Asa

forgot, many of us forget God’s word, what the Lord has done for us and the promises of everything He wants to do in our lives. Let us keep His word in us alive and fresh! Jeremiah 15:16 Nor Ben-Hadad, King of Syria was greater than Baasha, nor was Asa greater than any of them, because greater is the Almighty God whom you trust and decide to surrender your life. Jehovah had delivered this town from greater enemies, like the Cushites. He has done the same with us; deliver us from all evil and the bad circumstances. You know that when you lean on Jehovah He looks after you, because the eyes of Jehovah are contemplating the whole world. 2 Chronicles 16:9 Throughout this year 2008, the Lord watches out for you to show His power in your favor and to all those who have a perfect heart for Him. It is sad to say so, but after receiving so many blessings from God, King Asa found God to be unfair to him, he became annoyed and started to oppress the town. 2 Chronicles 16:10 What was really inside of him came out. When we oppress others it is because we no longer love and we complicate the lives of those who surround us. But when we’re able to love God with all our strength and we overcome our pride, then we start to do well to others and we stop oppressing other people. Asa ended up abusing everyone. But the men who lean on God do not oppress the town or anyone else surrounding them. Their hope is not in the town or any other man, but solely and clearly their God. Because Asa found shelter in mankind over Jehovah, his anger was manifested. And because Jehovah reprimanded him he became angry and this is what many do, but before God it is best to live afflicted. This means that Jehovah no longer sustained Asa, since Asa depended on his own strength. This man that once was pleased with Jehovah’s kindness, negotiated what was pure, sacred, because he wanted to be in peace, not with Jehovah, but with the kings of the land. Acts 5:29 We must understand what Asa refused to understand, that the kings pass. The one who never passes is the God who called you. The Lord has believed that you can love Him with all your strength, for this He has called us, so that we could love Him. Church, if your trust is totally in Him, you will see good days. Even though you may think that God has spoken strongly, it is for your well-being. Some men may speak politely, but what they want is to deceive you and destroy you. For this reason, do not lean on any of them. Lean on Jehovah! How? Believing and trusting Him every day of your life. Amen.
