TOPIC: “David was moved by his flesh and displeased God” 2 Samuel 11:26, 27 Our human condition, our flesh wants to separate us from the spiritual and if we are not watchful and do not fear God it can destroy us. We sometimes think that our destruction can be in some one else and this is the reason why we look for some one to accuse for the things that go wrong, but the truth is that some stop seeking God because of what is inside of them, the impure passions, the concupiscence that is inside. It is necessary for us to seek to destroy our flesh. If we don't do it, it will destroy us, it is necessary for us to open our eyes. This is what happened to Samson (Judges 16:16, 20). We should really be concerned about taking care of ourselves so that our flesh will not destroy us so that we will be able to reach eternal life. The fact is that hell is real. The Scriptures warns us. The Word of God is very precise; we must examine the Word of God and be careful how we walk. According to the Scriptures David was a man who had a heart consistent to God’s own heart. Our life is a constant war, but we have to understand the warnings the Scripture gives us so that we can constantly take care of ourselves by observing and watching over everything. When we neglect ourselves and we cannot fulfill the purposes of God then we will have to suffer and get hurt. In the spiritual sense, we all have to go to war. But, for David it was time to go to the terrestrial war with his army, he was supposed to be fighting for his people, for Jehovah his God. Our purpose in life is not only working, eating, breathing; the battle is part of this life and it is until we wear out. What sense can it make if we possess everything and finally lose eternal life. Our stability and firmness is not because of our own strength, but by cultivating our relationship with God. If David would have been in the war he would have not been exposed, he wouldn’t have an idle moment. We conquer when we are doing God’s will and we will never feel useless. David fell in the trap of sin; he fell into the sin of adultery. All because he neglected the matters of governing Israel, He delegated his job to others to be in front of the battle. You must never neglect yourself. It is said that, "A bed of laziness becomes the bed of impurity." Spare time frequently becomes all that is impure and the danger of this is that when you begin involving yourself in it, you begin to like it, you get used to this and end up accepting it as if it was nothing. Job made a covenant with his eyes not to look at other women. Job 31:1 Some eyes without control, jumping eyes will look at what they should not be looking at. David did not make a covenant with his eyes, and a man or woman who lives in sanctity makes a covenant with their eyes that they must not look at what doesn't correspond. Sin, a man’s condition begins to degrade in stages and suddenly they walk away from God. Sin moves us away from God and leads us to Hell. Let us escape for our lives and be diligent. When David saw this woman, since he did not make a covenant with his eyes, he conceived sin immediately because of his concupiscence. As a result, David degenerated his descendant; he deformed it with his impurity. His only advantage was that he

humbled before God, but his punishment followed him until the end of his days. The way we walk will speak by itself, if we are innocent or not. Temptation is there, always ready to get us and to involve us, and if we neglect ourselves and we yield to it, it will wrap us up, and then it will give birth to sin. Uriah was one of the king's best soldiers. He exposed himself for the honor and the security of the Kingdom. When we fall into temptation it is a shame and we also involve those who surround us and we contaminate what is pure. We seek to clean our conscious with someone, but we must seek where we have gone wrong. Uriah had been informed of what was happening. Perhaps he closed his heart to say that only death awaited him. This woman deserved to go to a tribunal for adultery, but she was very clever and she sent a message to the King and let him know that she was pregnant. A moment of pleasure for David was turned into great concerns. Sadly, he decided to end an innocent life, with Uriah! Joab, who was King David’s army general, was a severe and bad man. To cover up his wrong doing David tried to use every low method in his power to the point where he intoxicated Uriah, but even this did not destroy his principles or his conviction of the truth he had received. When David saw that he had failed with all his plans he decided to eliminate him. When the sinner's plan is not fulfilled, he seeks how to destroy, and the easiest thing to do is to destroy what ever retorts him, nowadays they seek to destroy the minister in order to remove the essence of the Word. Uriah was so innocent, brave, and willing to die for the king's honor. However, this same king planned to kill him in the subtlest way. Uriah took his sentence in his hands; his courage was abused, of his faithful fight for his nation and for his king. Uriah died as a consequence of the king’s moment of pleasure. When we are not able to dominate our flesh but rather it takes possession of us, wickedness is engendered and we can end up killing. For Uriah his time ended, he knew what David wanted. With this biblical illustration we can see how vile and vicious we can be when we are dominated by our flesh. Bathsheba had contaminated her body with the king, but Uriah demonstrated his integrity and courage. Honor is something violent; it is to stand in front of the battle even if we perish. David lost courageous warriors thanks to his carnality, concupiscence and leisure. Do you know that we show what’s inside of us? Uriah showed clearly his love for the church and for God’s people. Hypocritically, David hid guilt. This was unpleasant before Jehovah’s eyes because of his sin of adultery with Bathsheba, his lies, and Uriah’s murder. Men and women who do not love righteousness cannot lead their children to righteousness. When we have not loved righteousness we commit sin and this can lead to homicide. In this life we think what ever we want to think, but there are realities that are carried out. When we do not conserve purity we contaminate our house, which we must conserve clean. Christ paid a great price for our redemption, for all our sins; then why not preserve the purity and take care of what we must. Those who stand before the wall are the brave ones. If we are not courageous we cannot stand in front of the wall to win this battle for justice. An honest man surpasses beyond all. Jesus perfects his commandments in our lives. Let us be faithful to God. Amen.
