TOPIC: “Knowing and Obeying the Word of God Will Lead us to Live in Peace” 2 Kings 22:13, 18-20 Sometimes when problems arrive we don’t know what to do, but the solution to everything that can possibly go wrong is prayer. We must get closer to prayer and seeking God, because sometimes in the midst of our problems there is a tendency towards rebellion. The only way to know how to conduct ourselves is through prayer and through understanding the Word of God. Nowadays it has become the latest custom, for people of this world to consult cards, horoscope and fortune tellers, because they feel the urge to know, to seek what tomorrow will bring. But for us the believers there is no need for those things for we have the voice of God. But we must learn to discover when God is really speaking to us. Men and women who know the Word of God will be fine because they have the advantage that in the Scriptures everything is made very clear to them. We have the Word of God that is very precise for all our needs. This is why we can live our lives confidently and calmly. We must live and believe the Word of God completely, not only one verse, but from Genesis to Revelation. Do you believe in the Word totally? We cannot live our lives in a “fantasy” because in reality this life is very hard, with many battles and realities we must face. This is why we must not persist in “fantasies.” We must understand clearly the importance of prayer and God’s Word. As King Josiah understood the importance of God’s Word, what the rest of the people of Israel took for granted. We depend on both things: prayer and God’s Word. Sometimes we are excessively preoccupied because we have not held on to what is more powerful than our own strength. Our own human strength will not take us anywhere. When we can’t work to resolve our lives, everything come crumbling down on us, that’s when we are able to see that we are small and we realize that we really need God. We should not wait for these moments to arrive; we must seek God before all this arrives. Josiah assumed two attitudes which we must also assume. After finding the book of the Law in the temple, he began to study it profoundly. Josiah was one of the last kings. In those days everything in God’s temple had been robbed, except the book of the Law. It was not vandalized or destroyed; surely God protected it to give His people one more chance. Josiah began to reconstruct everything in the house of the Lord and he also began to read the book of the law that had been left to him. As it was read to him, Josiah fell before the Father in humiliation and prayer. They began to scrutinize the Word of God because there was much for the people in that book. We must be wise and diligent to understand that the devil doesn’t want us to read the Scriptures. If the devil succeeds in leading us away from the Scriptures we will end up walking far away from the truth and God’s commandments will become unknown to us, and of what we must do. We sin when we do not read the Scriptures because there is no knowledge when we walk away according to our own thoughts and to everything that this world will sow in our minds and we will end up confused from here to there. When we know well the Scriptures nobody can fool us and the Scriptures will lead us to perfection. But when the Scriptures are unknown to us it is also unknown to us how to walk in this path. The more we get to know the Word as we speak, we will teach the Word to others and we will know what to do when certain situation come to our lives. We will know what is right and what is wrong. When the Word is unknown to us we do what we think, but we must live according to what the Word of God says. Human arguments are very far from the truth of God. The best thing to do is to be filled with the Word of God each day of our lives. Then nobody will be able to confuse, disturb or sow in us.

When there is a lack of knowledge of the Scriptures in us we begin to live of this world saying. We have a commitment with God. We cannot live this life of great fantasies, but we must walk each day according to prayer and according to the Word of God. Both prayer and the Word of God is what will sustain us. We must learn what is wrong and what is right from Genesis to Revelation. The Word of God is Alive and the more we read it, the more we will see. When King Josiah read the Word of God it made him reason and then he understood that God’s wrath was upon them. In the Commandments were written the decrees and he understood that his people were in idolatry. He then saw clearly what was happening around him and he knew he was in great problems. The more we know the Scriptures the more we will be able to fight and conquer. We must love the Word of God and then we will know exactly what to do. The Word of God is forever. Nobody will be able to walk if the Scriptures are unknown to them. The king realized this clearly. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Romans 10:17 Josiah understood by God’s Word the problem he had in his life and with his people. As the rolls were read to him, Josiah listened carefully and realized that his people were far from God and he began to seek for a solution. That nation was far from the Word of God, but very close to sin and to God’s wrath. When we have the knowledge of the Word it produces fear of God in us and this lets us know where the danger is, where evilness is, all our being will know what is evil. If we are conscious of what God wants we will see many good days and the wrath of God will not come upon our lives. Since the Word of God is alive something has to happen in us. The Word burst and falls and something begins to happen: it makes us cry, feel ashamed, and brings us consolation, it brings solutions, and it makes something spark in us. The Word is not dead like any other book. The only Word that is alive is the Word that God has left us. The kings that were before Josiah, Amon, Manases had buried the Word with there facts. They leaded the people with idolatry and not with the Word of God. They leaded them to sin. They were far from God. How are we to understand and conquer without the knowledge of the Word of God? When we do not read it we bury it and since it is alive that Word is what will condemn the world. If we bury the Word of God, God’s wrath will come upon us. If we want to see good days in our house, we must disinter God’s Word and live by it. To be able to speak about the Word one must have revelation of it and in order to have this one must love and live for it. If the Word of God is not planted in our hearts it will not bring life. Josiah began to restore everything. He ripped his clothing in humiliation before God to move away God’s wrath which was upon his people. As long as we are far from the Word of God we will do according to our own thoughts, but as long as we have the knowledge of the Word in us we will be where God wants us. In our church, Mega Zoé, we must understand clearly that our walk is dictated by the Word of God. Amen.
