Walk in Righteousness

"Walk in Righteousness" – Isaiah 33:15-16 The conditions for enjoying communion with God are to walk in righteousness (to give to each one what is due), to speak what is right. The character of the good even in times of general iniquity; He walks upright. It acts according to the rules of equity (fair distribution, equality) giving each one his own; not only to God, but also to men. He also speaks uprightly with honest (decent, good quality) intention and with moderation (restrain) of words.

I. He will never oppress others, as well as receive bribes to prevent justice from being done.

A. He shakes his hands from collecting bribes (money, gifts, position of authority to influence a person's decisions).

1. He covers his ears so as not to listen to bloodthirsty (cruel) proposals, that is, conspiracies (a secret agreement between two or more people, usually illegal or harmful) to shed blood; the one who closes his eyes so as not to see bad things because he hates sin in such a way that he cannot suffer when he sees others commit it.

2. Those who wish to preserve the purity of their souls must also close their ears to temptation and turn their eyes away from sin and the vanity of the world.

3. (16) The consolation of the good that can encourage him even in times of general calamity (misfortune, disaster, catastrophe, disturbs the order).

4. This man will be safe, for he will have fellowship with the God who is a consuming fire, for it will be a joyful light for him (joy, feasting).

5. As for the present troubles and calamities, they will not harm him, for he will dwell in heights, refuge in God, a bulwark of rocks.

6. The bulwark or bastion is a fortified redoubt that projects outwards from the body, a replica of a fortress, generally located at the corners of the curtain walls, as a strong point of defence against the assault of enemy troops.

7. The God who is the rock of ages (or eternity) will be his high keep (great tower in fortresses).

8. There he will not lack anything he needs to survive, he is sure of bread and water, no matter how hard and narrow the siege placed on the city is.

9. Those who fear God will never lack anything that is good for them.

10. (Psalm 91:14) To whom these promises belong; they are described by three signs.

a. Those who have set their love on God.

b. He is loved by those who know Him well.

c. Those who know His name.

11. We cannot know His nature perfectly, but He has made Himself known to us by His name and by His works.

12. Those who invoke Him in prayer and keep a constant correspondence with Him.

13. What are the promises God makes to the saints: "that in due time He will deliver them from their distress."

14. "I will deliver them and again", with which He denotes (indicates, announces) a double liberation: from anguish and in anguish.

15. (Isaiah 58:14) The reward of a correct observance of the Sabbath in our lives will be an observance (submission, compliance, discipline, obedience, exact and punctual fulfillment

of what is commanded to be executed); "In the work itself they would find the reward, then you will delight in Jehovah," for He was to manifest Himself more and more in them.

16. If we joyfully do our duty, we will derive satisfaction from Him.

17. They would also obtain from Him high honor (strong and very high, which exceeds the ordinary term); "I will make you ascend on the heights of the earth", a phrase that is equivalent to obtaining honor, power and prestige and influence.

18. If God, through His grace, enables us to live above worldliness, He will also honor us by exalting us above the world.

19. They would also derive material benefit from the observance of what they were commanded to do over Jacob's inheritance: "And I will feed thee with the inheritance of Jacob thy father."

20. His people had to keep the Sabbath.

21. The expression, "Jacob's inheritance," describes all the territory that was promised to Jacob (Genesis 28:14).

22. (Habakkuk 3:18) Those who when they felt full rejoiced in God, for everything and when they feel empty, they can rejoice (celebrate intensely, rejoice) over everything in God and sitting on a heap of ruins, sing praises to the glory of God.

23. This is the main basis of our joy in the Lord, that He is the God of our eternal salvation and as such, we can rejoice in Him during our greatest hardships, since those hardships cannot prevent our salvation, but on the contrary, help and promote it.

24. Joy in God is never out of time or place, moreover, it is never in a better seasoning than when in the world we meet with losses and crosses, for it is then that it is shown that our heart is not set on the things of this world, nor is our happiness bound up with it.

25. The one who is the God of our salvation in the world below, to take us there on our journey and help us overcome (conquer, defeat) the difficulties and opposition that meet us on our journey.

26. That is why the prophet who began his prayer with fear and trembling, concludes it with triumphant joy since, for a good soul, prayer is the relief of the heart.

27. One who is afflicted and has prayed rightly can then feel so comfortable, can then be so joyful as to sing Psalms. Amen
