You are Carnal or Spiritual

"You are Carnal or Spiritual" – Romans 8:5-13 Those who live because their minds are in the flesh, for they are carnal. It is to obey impulses (push, inability to resist, disorder, inability to control certain behaviors) when aware of the damage that results and the negative consequences that it could bring to your spiritual life, you cannot stop doing them. They are those forces that make your body move. The flesh does not make us reflect (understand warnings or advice).

I. Those who live according to the flesh must die.

A. Not only physically, but eternally.

1. "To live" "according to the flesh" is not to be saved.

2. It may be clear (4-5): a.) According to the Spirit. b.) By passing control of our lives to the Holy Spirit, "He gives us the capacity to love God". c.) Now we come to know that the demands of the law are fulfilled by Spirit-controlled life.

3. (5) Those who are carnal to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh.

4. They obey the impulses of the flesh.

5. They live to gratify the desires of corrupt nature.

6. They gratify the body, which "after a few years", will return to dust.

7. But those who are after the Spirit, true believers, rise above flesh and blood and live for eternal things.

8. They are busy with the word of God, no book you read is going to edify you (build God's in your life), rise as wise and knowledgeable about God, "prayer", worship (how easy it is to escape from worship) and your service as a believer.

9. (6) The mentality of the flesh.

10. The mental inclination of fallen nature is death.

11. It is death as far as the present enjoyment and final destiny are concerned.

12. It has in itself all the potential of death, just like an overdose of poison.

13. But the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace.

14. The Spirit of God is the guarantee of life that is true life, of peace with God, and of a life of serenity.

15. (7) The designs (purpose, intention, project) or purpose of the intellect, accepted by the will of the flesh, is death because it is enmity against God.

16. Well, the sinner is a rebel against God and has an active hostility (enmity) against Him.

17. If any proof is needed, it is most clearly seen in the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ.

18. The mentality of the flesh does not submit to God's law.

19. He wants his own will, not God's.

20. His nature is such that he cannot even be subject to the law of God.

21. The flesh is dead to God.

22. (8) It is not surprising, then, that those who live according to the flesh cannot please God.

23. There is nothing that an unsaved person can do to please God: no good works, no religious observance, no sacrificial services; nothing at all.

24. First is to accept Jesus as Savior because he knows that he is lost in his sinning offenses, an act of faith.

25. Only then can you get God's smile of approval.

26. (9) When a person is born again, he is no longer "in the flesh, but according to the Spirit."

27. You live in a different sphere.

28. Just as a fish lives in water and man lives in the air, so a believer lives in the Spirit.

29. Not only does he live in the Spirit, but the Spirit lives in him.

30. In fact, if the Spirit of Christ does not dwell in him, he does not belong to Christ.

31. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

32. (10) Through the ministry of the Spirit, "Christ is" really in the believer.

33. It is amazing to think that the Lord of life and glory is dwelling in our bodies, especially when we remember that these bodies are subject to death "because of sin".

34. The forces of death are already at work in us, and we will inevitably die if the Lord does not return sooner.

35. In contrast to the body, the "Spirit" lives because of righteousness.

36. Although he was dead to God, he has been crucified through the righteous work of the Lord Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection and because "the righteousness of God has been laid upon us: completely free for believing in Him."

37. (11) The "Holy Spirit" dwelling in our bodies is a guarantee that, just as "He raised up Christ Jesus" He will also give life to "our mortal bodies".

38. This will be the final act of our redemption (salvation, deliverance, rescue), when our bodies are glorified (consecrate, honor, elevate, prestige) as the Savior's body of glory. Amen.
