When God is Forsaken

"When God is Forsaken" - 2 Peter 3:17 You can pretend that you love God; you can pretend that you have the Lord and have a disorderly life in the flesh (2 Chronicles 12:1). Rehoboam and his people forsook God. He walked for some time in the right way of David, but he became reluctant (lazy, unwilling) in the worship of God. While he feared that his kingdom would be tottering, he did his duty in order that God might be propitious to him; but when he thought that his throne was consolidated, he believed that he no longer needed religion and could dispense himself from it (religion).

I. Bad examples must be avoided.

A. (Leviticus 20:23) Its danger.

1. They were marching to an infected, injected earth.

2. "You shall possess their land... land flowing with milk and honey in which they would have well-being if they kept their integrity.

3. But at the same time, it was a land full of idols, idolatries and superstitious customs, to which they could become fond.

4. They had brought with them from Egypt a strange disposition to catch such infections.

5. (Proverbs 22:24-25) A timely advice not to make intimate friends with a person of bad temper, "for whoever is easily angry, is offended and resentful.

6. He is not a suitable person to be taken as a friend, for not only can he easily get angry with us, but he will expect us to be angry with other people too, as he does, and we will be to blame for that sin.

7. God would have determined to exterminate this rebellious generation in the wilderness.

8. What lay at the bottom of their disobedience to God and their neglect of the institutions He had established for them was the secret affection they cherished for the idols of Egypt.

9. If there was evil, it was not for lack of warning; In one's hands is good or evil.

10. (Hebrews 4:11) God's rest is still available.

11. Diligence is required to enter that rest.

12. We are exhorted to seek the assurance that Christ the Lord is our "only" hope.

13. We must diligently resist every temptation to merely profess faith in Him and then renounce Him in the heat of suffering and persecution.

14. His people were negligent.

15. They treated God's promises lightly.

16. They desired Egypt, the land of their bondage.

17. The world treats him badly: death.

18. They were not diligent in appropriating "the promises of God by faith."

19. The result was that those who came out of Egypt never made it to Canaan.

20. Their example should serve as a warning to us.

21. (2 Peter 3:17) Let us guard our lives lest we fall, carried away by the error of the wicked (wicked, unjust, perverted), "and if you fall from our steadfastness, we believers are to be constantly 'on guard' against the danger of 'error'."

22. The knowledge that there will always be false teachers who will corrupt (alter the shape of something, harm, rot, deprave – "to me this is the true meaning") and imitate the truth, should keep us on our toes.

23. It is easy for the unwary (they have no malice, it is easy to deceive, simple, innocent) to be swept away by the "error” of the wicked (wicked, unjust) and lose their spiritual balance.

24. "Swept away by the error of those libertines and fall from your firm position."

25. He knew beforehand about false teachers and reminded them repeatedly.

26. We are always in danger of being seduced by them. Amen.
