Let us go from Him to Himself

"Let us go from Him to Himself" – Psalm 6:1-5 It is bad to be seriously ill. David's enemies may rejoice, for they may think they can overcome him, defeat him, mock him, or say that God is punishing him. It would be that whisper. That said quietly against the Psalmist. Surely David felt that tormenting pressure from his enemies. Perhaps they rejoiced in talking about their desperate situation.

I. David understands his illness as a punishment from God for some sin.

A. It's something we do frequently, too.

1. How many times is the first thing that crosses our minds.

2. It is true (1 Corinthians 11:30) that some diseases are actually caused by "unconfessed" sin in the believer's life.

3. (John 9:3) God often allows an illness to be an opportunity to show His power and glory.

4. It is good to seek that there is no unconfessed sin in our lives.

5. If You remind me of my sin, it is fine; but O do not remind me when you are angry with me, so that the heart of your servant may not faint.

6. (Jeremiah 10:24) "O Lord, correct me but with moderation, but not in Your wrath, so that it will not destroy me.

7. (Psalm 6:2) Have mercy on me, O Jehovah.

8. He was wearing out.

9. His "bones" were constantly hurting.

10. David sees no means in heaven or on earth; and therefore, he draws near to God, even though He has wounded him, that he may be healed.

11. He appeals to a merciful God in defense of an angry and righteous one, that is, he goes from Him to Himself.

12. David goes from one characteristic (qualities that distinguish people) justice, to another, mercy.

13. "O Lord, heal me, for my bones tremble."

14. His terror had increased so much that his very bones trembled; not only did he feel tremors in the flesh; "but in the bones"; the columns of the "human building"; He was shaking.

15. (Psalm 6:3) My soul is also very troubled.

16. The soul is troubled, which is the very center of the trouble.

17. Today's disease, depression (sad, listless, dejected, or knocked down), is in the soul, (material or invisible) the essence of people.

18. Even his entire inner life, his emotions, intellect and will were affected.

19. It also seemed to him that the Lord was "slow to respond."

20. How much more did he have to suffer, until He graciously healed him?

21. (Psalm 6:4) Return, O Lord, deliver my soul.

22. When a petition has reached God, it works upon God, moves God, prevails with God entirely for everything.

23. Save me by Your mercy.

24. If we appeal to justice, what can we say?

25. But if we appeal to mercy we can still cry out, despite the immensity of our guilt: "Save me by Your mercy."

26. Jehovah delivers my soul: This is not proof that the glorious name (Jehovah) is full of "consolation" (encouraging, soothing, comforting, reassuring) for the troubled saint.

27. (Psalm 6:5) When the body is now inert (inactive, motionless) still; when there is no more pain, no hope, no passion and all is turned to dust; "a body".

28. God answer me (Psalm 6:4): deliver my soul, let us see Your mercies, for when you are dead there is no memory, you cannot be praised. If you're going to do anything, do it now because I'm close to being wiped off from the earth, and I still want to worship you, my God! Amen
