Take My Yoke upon You

"Take My Yoke upon You" – Matthew 11:29-30 It is an invitation to service already having salvation. You were worked and loaded, and we have rest (29). It is the rest of salvation that comes from becoming aware that Christ consummated (extinguished, spent) the work of redemption on the cross of Calvary. It is the rest of the conscience "that follows from realization" that the penalty for one's sins has been satisfied once and for all and "that God will no longer demand its payment."

I. "And I will give you rest" (29).

A. Salvation in service.

1. You can do a service to Christ because there is salvation, not by effort to find salvation.

2. In many places they present services so that salvation can be found later, and it is not like that.

3. "Take my yoke upon you"; this implies submitting to His will, "surrendering to Him the control of our life" (Romans 12:1-2).

4. (a) We should "present" our bodies as a living, holy, pleasing (taste, joy, satisfaction) sacrifice to God. (b) Our bodies signify our limbs and by extension, our entire lives.

5. Total surrender is our rational worship (reason: capacity of the mind, understanding, intelligence).

6. It is our rational worship in this sense, if the Son of God "has died for me," then the least I can do is "live for Him."

7. "If Jesus Christ is God and died for me," said British athlete C. T. Studd, "then no sacrifice on my part to Him can be too great."

8. Rational worship; spiritual worship, with strength, passion, love, with tears and joy.

9. As believers – priests, we do not come to God with the bodies of dead animals, but with the spiritual sacrifice of lives given to Him.

10. (12) Second, Paul urges us (to hurry, quickly) not to conform to the ways of this world or someone said, "Do not let the world compress us" (narrow, squeeze, oppress, or reduce to less volume) within its own mold.

11. When we come to the kingdom of God, we should "forsake" the mental patterns (pattern, model, rule, norm, guide) and lifestyles of the world.

12. "The world" is used here to announce, to indicate the society or system that man has built to make himself happy without God.

13. When God is not known and the world and its pleasures are loved, people through the concupiscence (lust, ambitions, etc.) of the eyes, the pride of life.

14. Culture and customs: politics, art and lifestyle and try to get everyone to adapt to their culture.

15. (Matthew 11:29) "And learn from me (29)."

16. By acknowledging His lordship over all areas of our lives, He instructs us in His ways.

17. "That I am meek and humble of heart."

18. In contrast to the Pharisees, who were tough and proud, the true Teacher is gentle and humble.

19. All who bear His yoke will learn to take the lowliest place.

20. "And ye shall find rest unto your souls."

21. Here it is not a question of the rest of the conscience but of the rest of the heart that is found in taking the place "humblest before God" and man.

22. It is also the rest one experiences in the service of Christ when he stops trying to be great.

23. "For my yoke is comfortable, and my burden is light."

24. Here again we have a sharp contrast with the Pharisees.

25. Jesus said of them (Matthew 23:4) "because they bind heavy and hard-to-bear burdens and put them on the shoulders of men; but they don't even want to move them with a finger.

26. The yoke of Jesus is easy; It does not cause chafing.

27. Its load is light.

28. This does not mean that there will not be problems, trials, or pains in the Christian life.

29. But it does mean that we will not have to endure them alone.

30. We are yoked with One (Jesus) (united) there is enough grace left for every time of need.

31. To serve Him is not slavery, but perfect freedom. Amen
