The God of Battles

The God of Battles – 2 Kings 6:16 Ah, my lord, what shall we do? (15) Great was the reassurance that Elisha gave him: By his word: What he gave him on this occasion is, as he said, to all the faithful servants of God when they are besieged with strife from the outside, and with fears from within: Do not be afraid, nor tremble, nor be bewildered (decay or disarray), for more are those who are with us to protect us, than those who are against them, to destroy us.

I. An army of angels in his favor. To. Ineffably (unspeakable - cannot be explained in words, cannot be narrated or expressed) superior in number and quality to that of the Syrians, and an infinitely powerful God.

1. When our imagination magnifies the volume of the dangers that threaten us, we should pause and reflect for a few moments to recall the greatness of God who is our Father: (Romans 8:31) If God is for us, who can be against us?

5. (2 Samuel 5:24) David consults Jehovah, saying, "Shall I go against the Philistines?" (19) Go, for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.

7. When God goes before us.

8. Hearing the footsteps of an army marching against them, they retreated precipitately and fell into the hands of David's force, which was in the rear of the enemy.

9. The success of skillful action (which can do a thing correctly and easily) is told briefly in verse 25: David "acted" as Jehovah had commanded him, "waited for God to move," and "only then did he attack the enemy."

20. Alas! Somebody said, "I don't feel competent to instruct you: Go to the Word of God, for all the Word of God is pure."

21. In His Person and in His Word, God is a "shield," a sure protection for all who hope in Him.

22. You do not read it, you do not know, you are unprotected, and you do, speak, and give your opinion about yourself, not about the knowledge of the mind of God, which is embodied in the Holy Scriptures. Amen.
