"Salvation for the Sanctification of the Spirit" - 1 Kings 9:6-9 As soon as Solomon obstinately (stubborn, rebellious, closed in his thoughts, not open to the Holy Spirit) was filled with being stubborn (willful, obstinate, pig-headed) and what came to him, what was said: captivity, destruction, the temple and would put Israel as a proverb and saying among the Gentiles: The absence of sanctification, not immediately, but at its just and welldeserved time comes consequences.

I. (7) And this house which I have sanctified in my name.

A. I will cut Israel off the face of the earth.

1. Absence of sanctification is a loss.

2. Obstinacy leads us to become people of little sanctification.

3. (John 17:17) To sanctify means to set aside: The Word of God has a sanctifying effect on believers.

4. As they read and obey it, they are set apart as vessels fit for the Master's use.

5. This is exactly what the Lord was asking for here.

6. He "wanted" "a people set apart for God," separated from the world, useful to God.

7. The thing about the flesh that doesn't just die, you're less sanctified and you're not being useful to Him in what He wants to do, through you.

8. You don't read the Word, you don't sanctify yourself, in it is the truth.

9. Your Word is truth, Jesus said.

10. He did not say, as so many say today, "Your word contains truth, but Your Word is truth.

11. The grace that Christ desires for you is sanctification: Father sanctify them."

12. He confirms (the degree of probability of something) in them the work of sanctification; He assures them of good resolutions.

13. Persevere in good works, let Your work in them be complete, and advance in holiness to the end.

14. The Lord will not be able to present you to the Father unless you have been sanctified.

15. (1 Corinthians 1:30) All that we are and have comes from Him, there is no place for the glory of man.

16. When we have Him, we have wisdom that guarantees our full salvation.

17. In Him we have our righteousness; through faith in Him we are counted righteous by a holy God.

18. He is "our sanctification;" in Him we are positioned, sanctified, and by His power we are transformed from one degree of sanctification to another.

19. (Ephesians 5:26) In this present time, "His" love for the church (the church belongs to no one on earth) is shown in His work sanctification: "To sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water by the Word.

20. "To sanctify means to set aside."

21. The position, the posture, the church, is already sanctified; practically being sanctified from day to day.

22. The process of sanctification is accomplished by the washing of water by the word.

23. This simple term means that the lives of believers are purified by hearing the Words of Christ and obeying them.

24. (John 15:3) Jesus said to the disciples, "You are now cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you.

25. (John 17:17) And He links sanctification to the Word in His prayer of high priestly intercession: "Sanctify them by the truth: Your word is truth”.

26. Just as the blood of Christ purifies us once and for all from the guilt and penalty of sin, "so the Word of God purifies continually" from the defilement and impurity of sin.

27. This passage teaches us that the church is being bathed in the present, but not with literal water, but with the purified agent (representative) that is the Word of God.

28. You don't listen to preaching, you don't read it in your life, you don't know sanctification: the Word points out to you the bad and the good you should do; And for that reason, they sanctify you.

29. (Hebrews 13:12) It was outside the camp of organized Judaism that He sanctified the people through His blood.

30. The high priest brings the blood of the animals into the Holy of Holies as a sin offering, but their bodies are burned outside the camp.

31. Wherefore Jesus also suffered outside the gates of the city, that He might sanctify His people by His own blood.

32. (1 Peter 1:2) Chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father.

33. Eternity past, God chooses for us to belong to.

34. Salvation is the sanctification of the Spirit.

35. It is a mystery of the Holy Spirit that He sets people apart to belong to God. Amen.
