Reviving the Sinking Faith

"Reviving the Sinking Faith" – Psalm 13:1-6 Life is born, and then it dies. Life is not an exhibition (show or public exhibition, demonstration), to show everyone how well things are going for us. Life is the most difficult process of creation. The reason: there are many pains, but the first thing is to show how capable we are of doing what we have to live, how just and doing good. To be able not to fall into: pride, arrogance and rebellion. To lower our hearts to meekness and humility.

I. The Great Anguish of the Heart.

A. There is always some form of anguish.

1. We immediately want deliverance, but then we don't educate our lives to live with God's mercies.

2. Until when? It appears four times on David's lips.

3. I don't know if it was Saul, Joab, Absalom, whoever, David felt God's delay with his life.

4. Would help never come to deliver him from the four terrible burdens that crushed him?

5. He felt as if God had forgotten him.

6. He considered himself to be separated from the favor of the Lord.

7. Every day he experienced deep depression in his soul.

8. He suffered the constant humiliation of being on the defeated side.

9. This is the truest portrait of our own experience.

10. It is not easy to prevent and avoid desires (God forbid) from degenerating into impatience.

11. Prolonged affliction seems to represent abundant corruption; for the gold that must remain long in the fire contains much dross that must be consumed: how long? It may suggest a deep search of the heart.

12. How long, Jehovah? Will you forget me forever?

13. In God there is no forgetfulness.

14. God is Omniscient, He cannot fail in remembrance. C.H.S.

15. Jehovah's heart cannot forget his beloved son.

16. "Forever."

17. Will You Forget Me (1) Forever?

18. Such a question on our part is unpleasant.

19. How long will you hide your face from me?

20 God our Lord provides a "free field for faith" to make its presence and exercise its fingers to reach "that which it does not see." Hebrews 11:1

21. (2) God is to take note of David's plight and send quick help to avert two disasters.

22. The first would be the death of David, and the second would be the joyful boasting of the "enemy."

23. If the Lord did not act quickly to restore brightness to David's eyes, they would soon be closed forever in "death."

24. Unless Jehovah turned things around, enemies would soon boast that they had "won," and that David had been completely vanquished.

25. There are many situations in the life of the believer in which the words of this Psalm can be a consolation and help in "reviving the sinking faith".

26. God does not forget His people, that help will come in the end.

27. Until when? It comes in four forms.

28. The writer's sorrow is seen: according to what it "seems," according to what "is," according to how it "affects" him from within, and according to how it affects his enemies "outside."

29. Who thinks of erecting monuments of praise for the mercies received?

30. (5-6) Now there is no doubt about the final disposition of things.

a. He is not grateful for a favor or benefit received.

31. The psalmist believes that the answer is on the way.

32. Trusting in the Lord's mercy, he knows that he will live to celebrate his rescue from the adversary.

33. In anticipation of this "salvation," he can sing "praises to Jehovah for His abundant mercy.

34. This Psalm is like many of our God-sent trials: they begin with a sigh, but end with a song!

35. The world marvels at how we can be so happy under such extreme misfortunes; but our God is Almighty.

36. He turns misfortune into happiness.

37. There is no joy in the world comparable to that enjoyed by the "children of God under the cross of Christ."

38. What greater glory can there be than to be formed, created, conformed to our head, Christ?

39. And this affliction does. 40 O good God, what am I that you should grant me such great mercy? John Trapp
