I waited patiently for the Lord

"I waited patiently for the Lord" - Psalm 40:1-5 We must endure, to suffer without flinching (to be troubled, to be upset). "Don't lose your cool while you wait." Suffering, tolerant, suffering while meek. It shows in Hebrews 10:5-9 that He did not like animal sacrifice, Jesus said, "I come, O God, to do your will." The former is removed, in order to establish the latter. "He waited patiently to be the offering of the body of Jesus Christ. He suffered, endured, waited for the love of our sinful lives, that they might be clean, and patient like Him.

I. Jesus wants you to be patient.

A. The One who came into the world to do the will of the Father.

1. You came to earth to do the Father's will, we patiently must wait on God, endure, resist in order to do His will.

2. Patient waiting in God characterized the Lord.

3. Throughout all of Jesus' agony in the garden, His trial of cruel mockery between Herod and Pilate, and "His passion on the tree," He waited in patient omnipotence (allencompassing power)."

4. Impatience (restlessness, uneasiness about something that bothers you is produced or that does not quite reach the one who does not have the patience, does not have the ability to wait for something without becoming nervous) is never harbored (sheltered, hosted) in His heart; much less does it escape His lips, that's Jesus.

5. Patiently it is God's dealings with my life and with the life of the Church.

6. Impatience was never in Jesus, He waited patiently, so He never harbored it in His heart; much less did it come from His lips. There is no impatience in Him.

7. Not a look of anger, not a murmur, not an act of vengeance "from the patient Lamb of God"; He waited and waited on; He was patient "to perfection, surpassing all others who, according to their measure, glorified God in the fire.

8. Job on the ashes does not equate Christ on the cross.

9. The Christ of God wears the imperial crown among the patients.

10. "I will wait patiently" = "I will wait waiting."

11. Vehement = fiery, passionate, ardent.

12. "Our Lord's patience under suffering was an element of perfection in His work."

13. If He had become impatient, as we sometimes do, and become discouraged, His Atonement (punishment for sins) would have been poor.

14. We can rejoice that amid all His temptations and in the heat of the battle against sin and Satan, He remained patient and "willing to finish the work which His Father had committed to Him."

15. (2) The pit of despair (total loss of hope, despair).

16. There are no openings in Dungeons, except for the hole at the top, which serves as a door or a window.

17. The bottom of these pits was of necessity dirty and disgusting and sometimes full of mud.

18. From the muddy mud (it's full of mud).

19. If a man has a firm foothold on which to put his foot, his "burden is lightened"; But if he is laden and must walk through slippery mud, "his test is doubly difficult.

20. (3) Then He put a new song into my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.

21. (Matthew 26:30) At the Passover, before His passion (Last Supper and crucifixion and death), our Lord sang one of the great ancient Psalms of praise; but what is the music of His heart now, amid His redeemed? What song is this that His ever-joyful heart leads the choir of the elect? Hallelujah!

22. Neither the drum of Miriam, nor the exultant hymn of Moses, can for a moment rival this new and triumphant song.

23. (C.H.S.) Righteousness magnified and grace victorious; hell subdued, and heaven glorified; death destroyed, and immortality established; sin overthrown and righteousness shining; what a theme for a hymn on that day when our Lord drinks the new wine with us all in the kingdom of our heavenly Father!

24. Many will see; and they will fear and trust in Jehovah.

25. But insofar as the sinner only sees and fears, he is only in the initial state of conversion, in a state of readiness to flee from the city of destruction.

26. He may have taken the first step in his pilgrimage, but he has not yet come to his Father to receive the kiss of welcome and forgiveness.

27. It has not yet taken the final step.

28. He's seen, really; It has also had; but he still needs to trust, trust in the Lord, and "drive away all his fears."

29. This is the culminating step of the great change; and unless it occurs, the other experiences will be obliterated and perish like a premature flower; or they will be fuel for the fire that goes unquenched.

30. (4) Blessed is the man who put his trust in Jehovah.

31. Faith obtains the promises.

32. A simple, unsophisticated trust in God is the sure mark of beatitude = fortune, happiness.

33. A person may be as poor as Lazarus, as hated as Mordecai, as sick as Hezekiah (2 Kings 20), or as lonely as Elijah, but as long as his hand of faith is grasped in God, none of his outward afflictions can prevent him from being named among the blessed.

34. And he does not look at the rebels, nor at those who deviate from the lie.

35. We are never to pay attention to apostates (depart from gospel principles), false teachers; they are harmful leaven and the farther away from them the better; Blessed are those whom God preserves from error in belief and practice.

36. Truly, if the enemy of hell rode around in a carriage and liveried servants (uniform, servants) and lived like a lord, he would have thousands to follow him in service. Amen.
