Pride and envy corrode

"Pride and envy corrode" - 1 Samuel 28:15-19 All of Saul's sins would visit him before another evening came. With difficulty he was persuaded to eat something before going on his "way". I. While David was successful in battle, Saul was facing defeat.

A. The Israelites were driven back, and the king's three sons were killed.

1. Saul is severely wounded by the Philistines and then dies by his own hand.

2. So, he could no longer flee or continue fighting, and he was inevitably going to fall into the hands of the enemy.

3. As he had lived "proud" (magnificent, arrogant, haughty) and envious (jealous, ambitious, selfish), so he died, being the horror of those around him and of himself.

4. The squire didn't want to finish him off.

5. Why have you disturbed me by making me come? (15)

6. Although Samuel came with God's permission, he reproaches Saul for having brought him from Sheol, the resting place of the souls of the righteous until the work of redemption (salvation) was accomplished.

7. (15) ... Saul: I am greatly distressed, for the Philistines are fighting against me, and God has departed from me, and He no longer answers me: God kept quiet at Saul, his rebelliousness, sin, pride, envy, his heart is already torn with wickedness, there is no longer communion with the holy.

8. Saul is in great trouble; God forsook him: what good is pride to him now?

9. He could expect nothing else "who had so gravely" and obstinately turned away from God.

10. Turning away from God: How Do You Know? You stop praying, obeying, reading the Word, loving the church, giving to God what belongs to Him (offerings, tithes), leaving or loving your brethren.

11. Those who are truly repentant of their condition can recognize God's justice over their lives in what they experience. What do you live? What have you experienced? Observe what you are living or what you have lived.

12. Yes, that's right.

13. Don't question, look at what's been around. What have you accepted? What have you seen normal? When have you run away from where you should be?

14. Saul acted like a man raging with fury (rapture, anger = anger), he seems to blame God himself.

15. How many times when we speak, we blame God for what we are experiencing, and we do not measure the consequences of what we do with envy and pride, the consequences of distancing ourselves from God come into our lives.

16. It was Saul's wretched state that he himself had brought to himself, pride and envy.

17. Still, Saul wants Samuel to help him with what he is going through.

18. Saul could not realize that "when God has turned His face away from a person," not even God's best servant, be it Moses or Samuel (Jeremiah 15:1), can give him any help.

19. We talk about what we had or what we wanted, or what we got.

20. Only the meek and clean hand comes to God.

21. There is no need to claim, to demand rights, that is demanded by the proud, the haughty and the envious.

22. Samuel reminds Saul of his disobedience (18): Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord, nor fulfilled the fierceness of His wrath against Amalek, therefore Jehovah has done this to you today.

23. Pride, envy, was in Saul's heart, he went against God and forgave Amalek who hurt Israel.

24. Because of this disobedience, Saul lost the kingdom and God gave it to David. (17)

25. (18) Since Saul did not hear God's voice, God does not hear him now.

26. God had already left a heart that was full of pride, envy.

27. (19) He foretells to him the defeat of Israel at the hands of the Philistines, and the death of him and his sons in battle: "Tomorrow you and your sons will be with me, that is, in Sheol.

28. Saul needed God's voice, but for him there were no good words of well-being, now he would have what he sowed: pride and envy.
