Prosperity for the Striving - Ruth 2:1-16 The energetic one is hardworking, and we can see it in Ruth. Providence itself led her to glean in Boaz's field. She did not go and claim the right to familiarity with Boaz, as a relative. She showed dedication, passion for what she did. She picked up ears of barley. (Food- bread in general and biscuits of all kinds are baked; pasta, cereals, even vegetable meat are produced) Ruth was productive in everything she did.

I. Naomi came to Bethlehem among her former relatives.

A. Boaz of the family of Elimelech, Naomi's late husband.

1. Ruth is very humble and poor.

2. There was no other way to earn food than by gleaning. (picking up the ears of barley that have been left in the field after the harvest).

3. From a wealthy relative, Boaz.

4. She was not tempted to return to her native country.

5. The God of Israel, whom she chose now, will be her God "walking with her onward."

6. You must trust in Him and will never leave Him.

7. Ruth to Naomi: (2) Please let me go into the field and gather ears of grain.

8. We can see the example we should "take": (a) From this humility, she has no objection to stooping to gleaning, nor does she find it difficult to work as a beggar (a person who habitually begs for alms to live). (b) Of their industriousness (perseverance, dedication to work). "I'll pick ears."

9. A diligent disposition goes a long way, we should not be ashamed of any office, no matter how modest, if it is honest.

10. Her consideration for her mother-in-law was what she learned from Naomi.

11. Of her dependence on Providence: "I will gather ears of grain where I am welcomed."

12. (3) Providence "guided her steps" to the field to which she went to glean, "it was the field of Boaz." Remember Providence, it's for certain.

13. Boaz said to the reapers (gather when it is ripe to gather it (trim with the sickle): Jehovah be with you, they answer, "May the LORD bless you."

14. We can see Boaz's mutual respect; although the owner respected them, so did they, that showed who Boaz was.

15. Boaz sees someone who was not one of the usual workers.

16. Pay attention, God being the Providence of Ruth's need for her mother-in-law.

17. When he heard that she was Naomi's daughter-in-law, he cordially invited her to continue gleaning in his fields, and he went even further by sharing the water of his laborers.

18. For the reason why Boaz was very kind to Ruth, was because of the good information he received from her, and because of what he himself was able to see.

19. (6-7) The steward gave Boaz a very good account of her and recommended her to his favor.

20. The steward spoke what Ruth said to him by her actions, it was not cunning; she did not know the estate and Boaz to arrive with cunning, she spoke of it: her dedication to Naomi, her love, her dedication to fulfill what was agreed with Naomi.

21. She tells him that she is a foreigner and therefore God allowed them in His law to glean and "search" (the ears were not in their hands, it was difficult) (Leviticus 19:9-10).

22. That she was related to his family, for she had returned to Naomi the wife of Elimelech, a relative of Boaz.

23. That she was a proselyte (a person incorporated into a religion) because she had come to dwell in Israel, which she had made a covenant with Naomi, God saw, because God knows and testified of her that she did it from the heart.

24. That she was modest, for she had not begun to glean until she was given permission.

25. That she was very laborious, for she had been gleaning since dawn, without resting for a moment.

26. (8) Such a well-earned report, Boaz was very kind to her.

27. He gave her permission to join his maids and not to go to glean in another field.

28. He commanded his servants to respect her even though she was a foreigner.

29. (14) He welcomed her to his table, after he had allowed her to drink from the water which the servants brought out.

30. He praised her very much for her behavior toward her mother-in-law, because of what he had heard. (11)

31. He himself gave her (14) some of the food they ate.

32. He praised her, especially for having left father, mother and country and having come to take refuge under the wings of the LORD, the God of Israel (11:12).

33. (12) He prayed for her. May Jehovah reward your work.

34. He encouraged her to continue gleaning and ordered her servants to let her glean even among the sheaves.

35. Ruth received these signs of kindness with great humility and gratitude.

36. (10) He showed her the utmost respect and gave her the honor customary in the country. Lowering her face, she bowed to the ground.

37. And she declared herself unworthy of such benefits, favors, since she was a foreigner (10) and inferior to his servants. (13)

38. How meek!

39. She only asks that she continue to find favor in his eyes (13).

40. And when Boaz invited her to share his table, she ate enough. (14)

41. She immediately got up to glean again. (15)

42. (18) She brought Naomi food. Amen.
