Believing God - Numbers 14:20-35 God answers Moses with mercy as well as justice. God "to exterminate all." At this time when Moses prays for the people on their behalf, God supports him and encourages him to pray for the people.

I. James: 5:16b. Effective prayer (produces the expected effect) of the righteous can go a long way.

A. The ability to achieve a purpose produces the expected effect.

1. When you get what you are looking for.

2. When you are an effective person in prayer.

3. Seek prayer for the good of yourself and yours.

4. (Numbers 14:21) The glory of God is totally covered with the resolution (resolve, solution) that divine justice has taken.

5. Moses had shown in his prayer a special interest in the glory of God.

6. Everyone will see how God hates sin "even in His own people and how He will hold them accountable for it, but at the same time they will also see how benign and merciful He is and slow to get angry.

7. (Num. 14:16-17) They will say: God could not bring the people to the land; they do not believe in their God.

8. Know brother, God gives immediate response when His glory is invoked, Moses says to Him: (V. 17) ... now may the Lord’s strength be displayed…

9. (V. 22-27) The sin of the people provoked God at the beginning, a process with great aggravating factors (backslide, abuse, adding to the evil of the situation, for that reason the punishment will be harsher).

10. They had tempted God and tested His power.

11. They had also tempted His justice.

12. They had murmured against Him; God insists on this (v. 27).

13. They committed this sin after seeing God's miracles in Egypt and in the wilderness.

14. They had repeated the provocations "ten times" (v. 22), that is, frequently.

15. The sentence pronounced against them for their sin.

16. They were not to see the promised land (v. 23) or enter it. (V. 30).

17. God's promise will be fulfilled for their offspring, but not for them.

18. (V. 25) They were going to return again by the desert road.

19. The next move was going to be a withdrawal.

20. That all who had been numbered twenty years above would die in the wilderness; Not all at once, but little by little.

21. They had desired to die in the wilderness, and God answered to their reckless and passionate desires.

22. That they had to wander in the desert forty years.

23. They were like travelers who got lost.

24. The risk of a people having agreed and not fulfilling, the "great risks and dangers".

25. Mercy with Caleb and Joshua.

26. Although they were to wander in the wilderness with the others, they were to be the only ones over the age of twenty who would survive until after entering Canaan (v. 24).

27. Only Caleb is mentioned in the first place and God points to him with a special honor: (V. 24) In His description of him: (There was in him "another spirit" different from the rest of the spies and he decided to go after God, he did exactly his duty, despite "being in a minority" and threatened with death.

28. He understood that "one with God is the majority."

29. The reward, He promises: I will put him in the land where he entered, because he believed God; Won.

30. In God's second mention of Caleb (v. 30) He also mentions Joshua next to him promising him the same favors and crowning him with the same honors, for "having performed together" the same services.

31. Will you be on such a list?

32. (V. 31) Mercy towards the children of these same rebels.

33. God was to preserve an offspring, which He would give in possession of the land of Canaan. But to your children, twenty years old below, of whom you said, "in your unbelief" that they would be by prey, I will "introduce" them.

34. They despised God, and His promises, they were left with nothing.

35. "They didn't believe God."

36. Empty hands and far from promises to those who do not believe. Amen.
