Neglect of What You Must Do - Nehemiah 9:35 Ezra's Prayer to confess the sins of Israel. God calls Abraham, takes him out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to deliver him to Canaan. He frees his parents from Egypt. Divide the sea and passed dry. Cloud column guided them by day, pillar of fire by night. On Mount Sinai He came down and spoke and gave him good commandments. He gave them the bread of heaven, but they (v.16) were proud and hardened their necks, they did not listen to His commandments. (v.31) But for the mercies You did not consume them. Our kings, our princes (v.34), our priests and our fathers did not put into practice Your law, "nor did they heed Your commandments and Your testimonies with which You admonished them.

I. And they in their kingdom and "in the much good that You gave them."

A. They did not serve You, nor did they convert from their evil deeds.

1. Spacious and fertile land that He gave them.

2. They didn't serve You.

3. Nor did they convert from their evil deeds. (They changed to make one thing different.)

4. Prayer and confession, though so important, cannot substitute for obedience.

5. (Matthew 7:24) Listening and not doing, which is disobedience.

6. He who hears His words and does not put them into action is like a foolish man (wisdom is the one who shows good judgment, prudence and maturity in his actions and decisions. Foolish = is reckless and immature in his actions, lacking wisdom}.

7. He is the one who makes his house (his life) in sand.

8. He is that man who will not be able to withstand the storms of adversity (misfortune, suffering, tragedy).

9. Knowing when the rain falls and the winds blow, then the house falls; The reason, there is no solid foundation.

10. Such is the fool who refuses to repent and rejects Jesus as the only hope of salvation.

11. The prudent puts all his trust in the Rock, Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior.

12. (Matthew 25:25-27) Stop burying what God has given you.

13. It is easy to hide what is God’s with excuses: he judges the Lord as hard, that he collects what does not belong to him, he is afraid of him and he returns him, because he judged his Master as cruel.

14. A good businessman of life "knows the rules, he is not stupid, but he of laziness, slowness, leisure learns defense and talk to give the misery of vain excuses.

15. God knows well to whom He gives.

16. If such was his thoughts about his master, why did he not take the measure then to take it to the bank for interest.

17. If this is the kind of master he thought I am, all the more reason to put your talent to work.

18. His words condemn him, not excuse him.

19. So, his lord disagrees with his accusations.

20. (Luke 12:47, 48) A fundamental principle is established with respect to the entire service.

21. This principle is that the greater the privilege, the greater the responsibility.

22. For believers, this means that there will be degrees of rewards in heaven.

23. Those who have come to know God's "will" as revealed in Scripture are under a great responsibility to obey them.

24. They have been "given much; much will be demanded of them."

25. (James 2:14) James insists that a faith that does not result in good works cannot save.

26. There are two keys that are of great help to understand this verse.

27. First, James tells us, "What good is it for a man to have faith..."

28. What it says in itself is: What good is it for someone to say they have faith...?

29. In other words, it is not that a man "has" really faith, but that he is not truly saved.

30. James is describing the man who has nothing but a profession of faith.

31. He says he has faith, but there is nothing in his life to prove it.

32. Can that faith save him?

33. Can it save that kind of faith?

34. He is referring to a 'purported' faith that is not backed by 'good works.'

35. Such a faith is worthless.

36. It's all words, and nothing more.

37. (James 4:17) Sin is therefore in the one who knows how to do good and does not do it.

38. To do good is to include God in every aspect of our lives, to live every moment in dependence on Him.

39. If we know we must do this, and we don't, we are obviously sinning.

40. In all areas of life, the opportunity to 'do good' makes us accountable for doing so."

41. If we know what is good, we are obliged to live in this light.

42. To stop doing good is sin "against God, against our neighbor" and against ourselves. Amen.
