Jonah's Anger – Jonah 4 While one reads Jonah's cruelty, in great astonishment one can also read, with no less astonishment, of God's tenderness with him; God does not reject but speaks clearly to him. Our heart is full of sparks of fire (small and scarce raindrops, burning particle that jumps from the fire (fire that burns with flame and provides light and color). Such is the heart. It becomes a volcano of long rivers of impatience (that absence of patience). Lava is magma (the masses of molten rocks from the earth's interior) that, during its ascent through the earth's crust, reaches the surface. When it comes to the surface, lava typically has temperatures ranging from 850°C (1562°F) to 1200°C (2192°F). Unlike magna which cools slowly to great depths. It can still flow long distances before cooling and solidifying and killing marine lives.

I. There is a man Jonah, and he talks to God.

A. He flees from Jehovah.

1. He doesn't want to go to Nineveh.

2. They are an evil people, but they did not know God like Jonah.

3. He takes a course other than Nineveh.

4. Although a big fish is coming to swallow him.

5. He didn't mind continuing to lead his life with the sparks of the great volcano that he had in his heart.

6. Although the fish vomited him, with the great havoc (damage) in his body, it did not bring him an awareness that it was against God that he was rising.

7. His impatience (impulsiveness, at a high level of activation, to a certain intolerance of frustration) leads him to live in a fight with God Himself.

8. Nineveh repents, what God wanted.

9. Jonah gets upset, that spark of anger made a great eruption to his heart that led him to dry an attitude of reverence, of love for those lives and bend his shoulder.

10. He left a large river of lava pouring from his heart and became angry.

11. (3:4) Deuteronomy 18:22 says, If the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and what he said is not fulfilled, nor does it happen, it is a word that Jehovah has not spoken; with presumption (vanity) the prophet spoke it.

12. Perhaps it was Jonah's thought: How am I to return to Israel as a prophet of Jehovah, if I predicted the destruction of Nineveh and Nineveh has not been destroyed?

13. Jonah's "sin" now consisted in his disagreement with God's will for the salvation of the Ninevites.

14. (4:4) Are you right to get so angry?

15. How much do you get upset or filled with anger?

16. It is like when the volcano, the lava that is magma that is the masses of molten rocks (melting) of the interior of the earth, so one comes out when there is anger and impatience, the thing in your heart melts and words that are sparks of fire against God flow through the mouth.

17. Of claims, defenses, how serious is the heart.

18. Are you right to get so angry?

19. Getting red hot as hot, as the lava that comes out of the volcano that reaches the sea and can kill how much marine life and that smoke that reached P.R., wrapped in the dust of Sahara.

20. (V. 5) Jonah does not answer God and leaves the city.

21. (V. 6-9) A plant that grows rapidly to the height of three meters (118.11 inches).

22. It has broad leaves that can provide shade; But its tender stem can be easily damaged.

23. For the only time in the entire book, Jonah is very cheerful.

24. There he can wait forty days until Jehovah destroys Nineveh.

25. God prepares Jonah's spirit for the great lesson.

26. It gives rise to a worm that injures the pumpkin and dry it.

27. To make matters worse, the sun rises and gives Jonah sunstroke.

28. He was annoyed and uncomfortable by the burning of anger and the strong wind, and the gourd gave him no shade.

29. All this causes tremendous sorrow (condition of that which is "heavy" = sadness, grief, whim, sorrow) to Jonah.

30. To Jehovah's new question: (4:9) Are you so angry about the gourd?

31. Jonah responds by re-emphasizing his deadly sorrow and anger: I get very angry, even to death.

32. He was wounded by the pumpkin (which gave him shade), such pride.

33. He could not see the mercies of Jehovah God.

34. Jonah was sent to do good, but he loved himself more. Amen.
