Divine Protection - Psalm 34:1-7 The Psalmist's gratitude caused him to record in writing the goodness of the Lord in granting him undeserved deliverance; however, in the escape spoken of in this Psalm, the Psalmist mentions nothing. The "Psalm of David" when his countenance (conduct) was left before Abimelech and he threw it out and left. He was in danger. David's life was in danger before the king of Gad, he went out before Saul, he wanted to kill him.

I. I will bless Jehovah at all times.

A. He who praises God for His mercies will never lack mercies to praise.

1. The martyr Bradford, speaking to Queen Mary, in whose power he was and therefore under her cruel clemency said to her: "If the Queen is pleased to release me, I will thank her, if she imprisons me, I will thank her, if she burns me, I will thank her.

2. "Whatever God do to me, I will be grateful."

3. (2) In Jehovah my soul will be boasted.

4. Boasting is something that is felt before it is expressed.

5. The converted person will glorify himself in Jehovah, not in his own character or achievements.

6. When we understand the gospel of grace, we realize that we carry out all sins and Christ accomplished all salvation.

7. So, we can only "boast in Him."

8. (3) "Magnify the Lord with me."

9. When our saved soul is not content to enjoy its redemption alone.

10. The subject is so supreme, superior, excellent that it invites "all" of his brethren to magnify (exalt) Jehovah with him (David) and exalt His name together.

11. (4) When the Spirit of God begins to move upon the soul of a sinner, it implants in it the divine instinct to seek Jehovah.

12. Only later does the sinner realize that it was the Lord who originally sought him!

13. It is still so that when we seek Him, He responds, freeing us "from all" our fears: the fear of the unknown future, the fear of dying without confessing sins and without having forgiveness and the fear of being before the Tribunal of the Great White Throne.

14. When we trust in Christ as Lord and Savior, it is as if we hear His words: Go in peace, your sins are forgiven!

15. (5) Salvation is not a private thing, but is offered to all.

16. "All" who look with faith at Christ are enlightened and become "radiant" (shine brightly).

17. Frowns are transformed into smiles of joy and depression and despair into delight.

18. None of those who lay down their lives to the Lord will be disappointed, "God cannot fail the heart that trusts in Him.

19. (6) This poor man cried out and the Lord heard him and delivered him from "all" his anxieties.

20. We come to Him in our poverty and tattered dress, in "humiliation" and "despair" and confess with "prompt encouragement the inability" to obtain our own salvation.

21. We put "all" our trust in Him.

22. Someone said: In my hands price I do not bring, I simply cling to your cross.

23. Jehovah hears our cry.

24. Our poverty appeals to His unlimited resources.

25. He bows down and saves us from "all" our "pains" (anguish, affliction, anxiety, fear) by pulling us out of the web of sins, which we had manufactured with our own hands.

26. Jehovah's angel camps around those who fear Him and defends them.

27. (7) The believer is not only saved, but also kept.

28. Jehovah's angel camps (stop the march and remain) "around those who fear Him" and frees them from "visible and invisible" dangers.

29. No sheep of His can ever perish (John 10:28).
