"A Promise Guaranteed by His Kindness" Exodus 34:5-6 When Moses reached the top of the mountain, God came out to meet him (V. 5). He descended "in the cloud," and made His tent; to imply that, though much was made known of Himself, it was nevertheless much more "what was hidden."

I. (Exodus 3:14) I am who I am.

A. God had been made known to Moses in the glory of His self-existence (which has no eternal beginning and no end; He doesn't depend on anyone; His existence does not depend on anyone; God in His essence is), self-sufficiency (He can sustain Himself; He suffices to Himself) when He proclaimed that name: I Am Who I Am.

1. Jehovah announced Himself: Jehovah! Lord! Strong, merciful, and pious; slow to anger and great in mercy and truth.

2. It is made known in the glory of His grace, of His goodness.

3. Strong (powerful), merciful (pitying the sufferings and miseries of others) and pious (compassionate of the suffering of others).

4. Slow to anger, "delay the execution of His righteousness."

5. It is great in mercy and truth, it pours out love, merciful of grace, gifts, blessings and faithful.

6. A kindness compromised by His promise: (Exodus 34:6) merciful, pious; slow for anger: a goodness compromised by His promise and a promise guaranteed by His goodness and His loyalty.

7. (Psalm 25:8) Good and upright is Jehovah.

8. For this reason, He has taught us the way.

9. He was the one who came out to light the way for us.

10. David is praying, entering into contemplation (attentive and careful observation of a reality).

11. He marvels at the thought of how Jehovah teaches him.

12. "Good" and righteous is Jehovah; therefore, He will teach sinners the way of truth, righteousness, and salvation.

13. The most important quality we need to learn from Him is humility.

14. We must be meek enough to admit our ignorance and need for "more instruction."

15. If we are, you receive the teachings; we will soon learn what is right. That is, what is God's will.

16. Far from having to endure an unpleasant life, those who "obey" God's Word "find" that life is filled with displays of God's constant love and faithfulness.

17. (Psalm 33:5) God is not only just and faithful, loving and maintaining justice and judgment; but also, the evidence (clear and manifest certainty of which cannot be doubted) of Jehovah's goodness are everywhere.

18. Wherever you are, if you believe Him, you can see that your land is full of mercies for you.

19. (Psalm 34:8) Taste and see that Jehovah is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him.

20. He who trusts fully in God is likewise fully satisfied to enjoy all that God blesses you, there are no complaints.

21. (Nahum 1:7) Jehovah is good, "strength in the day of trouble"; and He knows those who trust in Him.

22. When He punishes, there is no one to resist Him.

23. But He is "good" for those who trust in Him.

24. (Matthew 19:17) Our Lord wanted to know why he was looking for Jesus.

25. I wanted to hear the young man truly recognized Jesus.

26. He asks, Why do you ask Me about what is good? There is none good but one: God.

27. Jesus was not denying His own deity, He was giving that man the opportunity to say: That is why I call you good: You are God.

28. (Romans 2:4) God's judgment is inevitable unless we repent and are forgiven.

29. Then we learn that God's judgment is sometimes postponed.

30. This procrastination is evidence of His kindness (good), patience, and long-suffering (clemency, generosity).

31. His kindness means that He is kindly disposed toward sinners, though He does not with their sins.

32. His patience describes His withholding of judgment on man's sin and rebellion.

33. His long-suffering in His astonishing length of mind, His restraint despite the incessant provocation of man.

34. God's "kindness," as seen in His providence, protection, and preservation, is intended to lead men to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9). He does not want anyone to perish, but for everyone to come to repentance.

35. "Repentance" means turning around, turning your back on sin, and setting out in the opposite direction.

36. It is a change of way of thinking that produces a change of attitude, and that results in a change of action.

37. It means that man sides with God against himself and his sins.

38. It is more than an intellectual consent (permit) in the face of the fact of one's own sins.

39. It also includes "consciousness," as John Newton wrote, "My conscience felt "and acknowledged my guilt."
