"Servant Under Command" Exodus 34:5 God is shown to Moses as Jehovah! (Exodus 34:6) Jehovah strong, merciful, and pious; slow to wrath and great in mercy and truth...! He is merciful, His tender compassion, like that of a father towards his children. It is pious, to have sorrow for the suffering of others is natural in Him. It is slow for anger; it delays the execution of His justice; He awaits us with His grace and lengthens the offers of His mercy. He is great in mercy and truth, that is, overflowing with love, merciful with graces, gifts, blessings, and eternally faithful to His Word.

I. Thus, Moses received this declaration that God made to him of Himself and of His grace and mercy.

A. Moses takes this as a response to his request that God show him His glory.

1. The impression it made on Moses, this manifestation of God: Moses, rushing, lowered his head to the ground and worshipped.

2. What he took from this experience; (Exodus 34:9) Lord I have found grace in your eyes, let the Lord now go in our midst, for they are a stiff-necked people; and forgive our iniquity and our sin and take us for Your inheritance.

3. (Exodus 34:10) Jehovah God answered, Behold, I make covenant before all your people; I will do wonders.

4. (Exodus 3:5) And He said, Don't get closer (too much); Remove your footwear from your feet, because the place where you are, is holy ground...

5. Moses should express his reverence and readiness to obey: "Remove your sandals from your feet."

6. Like a servant.

7. Taking off his shoes was then a sign of respect and submission.

8. (Joshua 5:13) Are you one of our own, or of our enemies?

9. (Joshua 5:14) Neither, but as Prince of Jehovah's army I have come now. Joshua prostrated himself on his face on the ground, worshipped Him; And he said unto Him, What message does my Lord have for His servant?

10. Joshua's first question was full of courage and frankness: Are you one of our own, or of our enemies? The second was full of piety and obedience; What does my Lord say to His servant?

11. His humility was a sign of greatness of his character.

12. The relationship that Joshua recognizes between himself and Christ: That Christ is Lord and he is a servant under His command.

13. (Psalm 4:4) Tremble and do not sin; Meditate in your heart while in your bed and be silent.

14. A thoughtful person is on his way to being a wise and prudent person.

15. It is convenient to examine our conscience at bedtime to see where we have failed during the day and repent of it.

16. (Psalm 33:8) The use to be made of creation, of this God-made world: "Let all the earth fear (bow) the Lord; fear before Him all the inhabitants of the world."

17. May all men worship Him and give Him glory. (Psalm 89:7)

18. Fearsome God in the great congregation of saints.

19. Formidable, very fearsome and that instills amazement and fear.

20. Excessively great.

21. God fearsome, awakens in one fear.

22. False gods are covered in gold and silver, but dead; there is the living and true God.

23. Who sees and controls everything.

24. It is not hidden under gold or silver, but "in His holy temple, in heaven."

25. Ready to help and save.

26. Before Him, individuals and nations are to be silent; that is, to wait for "Him to speak; submitting all in silence" to His righteous judgments; (Be silent in the presence of Jehovah the Lord.)
