"The One to whom we have to give an account - Exodus 18:13-24 (Hebrews 3:7) ... as the Holy Spirit says: If you hear His voice today, do not harden your hearts. And they saw (Hebrews 3:9) My works forty years. (Hebrews 3:10) They always wander in their hearts. "And they have not known My ways." (Hebrews 3:12) ... evil heart of unbelief to turn away from the living God. (Hebrews 4:13) And there is no created thing that is not manifest in His presence; rather all things are naked and open in the eyes of "Him to whom we are to give an account."

I. Moses sat down to judge the people.

A. From morning until late.

1. There was the experience and life knowledge of Jethro, father of Moses' wife.

2. He said: What is it that you do with the people?

3. Why do you sit alone and the whole village is in front of you from morning to afternoon?

4. Moses answers: The people come to me to consult God.

5. Moses declared to them God's ordinances and laws (Exodus 18:16).

6. It was not his office to give laws, but to make known the laws of God because his office was that of a servant. (Hebrews 3:5)

7. He had to decide the controversies, judging between a man and his partner.

8. That people were prone to fights and quarrels; for this reason, Moses had to give the solution to the unresolved.

9. They were also with God: fights, gossip, murmuring.

10. There is no doubt then that he would have before him a large number of cases to judge.

11. Moses did so with great constancy and accuracy.

12. Jethro came into the life of Moses.

13. Prudence (ability to think, speak carefully, fairly, caution) and consideration (meditate, reflect, judge) shine in Jethro's friendly advice.

14. He did not like the method that Moses used and so he told him freely.

15. He understood that it was too much of a task for Moses to perform alone.

16. It is said: Even in the good doing there can be overreach.

17. For a government to respond better to its goal (the end it wishes to achieve or the goal it is intended to achieve) was that: (Exodus 18:19) it would take for himself all the difficult causes that required a divine decision.

18. You are on behalf of the people before God, and you submit matters (subject matter) to God.

19. It's not right what you do: reason, you're going to faint. (Exodus18:17)

20. You will faint = lose your strength because of tiredness; faint, decay, collapse, falter, weaken, become discouraged.

21. That great care had to be taken in the election of the persons to whom this office was to be entrusted. (Exodus 18:21)

22. They were to be men of virtue:

a. Ability to produce a certain positive effect.

b. Good operating habit. (usual).

c. It is a permanent disposition that inclines in a strong and firm way to a power to act according to right reason.

d. They were to have faith, hope, justice, temperance, prudence, charity to act well and correctly.

e. It is a positive quality that allows to produce certain effects, strength, courage, power to act and their integrity of mind.

23. God-fearing:

a. Respect, admiration, and submission (submitting, without question, to another person's authority or will or what circumstances impose) to God and His will.

b. Fear of the final judgment because in that Last Judgment everything will be as things are or have been, not accommodated.

c. To hell or to the omnipotence of God.

d. Fear close to the ideas of respect, admiration and submission to God and His will.

24. Men of truth:

a. Conformity of things with the concept that the mind forms of them.

b. Never confuse the truth, have the certainty of things with reality, "linked to knowledge" and thus obtain results that cannot be questioned or that can be objected to (oppose, refute, answer) but that is evident with security and certainty.

25. Abhor greed:

a. Not eager to possess many riches for the sole pleasure of treasuring them without sharing them with anyone.

b. Vice and prevents you from using the goods you own. (Proverbs 15:16) Better is the little with the fear of Jehovah, than the great treasure where there is turmoil; (1 Samuel 25:11) Am I now to take my bread, my water, and the meat which I have prepared for my shearers and give it to men whom I do not know where they are from? Foolish and harsh towards his fellow human beings; (Proverbs 30:8-9) Keep falsehood and lies far from me. Do not give me poverty or wealth; let me be left with the necessary bread; lest I be satisfied and deny you and say, who is Jehovah? Or that, being poor, I steal and blaspheme the name of my God.

26. Moses did not despise this counsel but heard the voice of his father-in-law.

27. He had brought him his wife and children.
