Blessing That Is Fought (Genesis 27:30-40) Rebekah had the promise: that the elder will serve the younger. There were rules in the people that God raised up. The voice of God is decisive. Rebekah was day and night waiting for the moment of blessing. In Rebekah's heart there was a great feeling, the will of God, which speaks very clearly to her.

I. The birthright is delivered by Esau.

A. He needed the blessing of the prophet Isaac.

1. Jacob is called, like the one who supplants.

2. A mother who fights and watches for justice.

3. Rebekah had a duty, responsibility, duty before God, it was to care and give the blessing to him, Esau already gave the birthright.

4. Esau already showed what he was: (Vs. 40) And by your sword you will live, and you will serve your brother; and it will happen when you strengthen yourself, that you will unload his yoke from your cervix. (2 Kings 8:20, 22). He broke the yoke of his bondage. It was fulfilled in the rebellion of the sons of Edom.

5. The blessing was going to fall on the wrong head, and they thought it was time to die and do something to prevent it.

6. Jacob was meek, obeys his mother and father, seeks wife from the family, and Esau with his sword and strength marries a Canaanite.

7. Esau was stubborn, he wanted to be someone in life, so they needed one who supplants, who has all the knowledge and skills, from the one who is replacing the reason for that, prevents any inconvenience from arising in the work that is being done.

8. The lifestyle he wants to do, the way he got things, was not through humility, brokenness, it was with a sword.

9. Jacob to his beloved son, was tested by his other sons: Jacob stood still and waited until old age without strength, to preserve the nation of Israel; How about Esau?

10. Esau would destroy the other sons and destroy Israel.

11. Abraham's promise would not be fulfilled.

12. Rebekah was the instrument for the blessing to come to Israel, of being the nation of God.

13. Rebekah (Vs. 8) tells Jacob what to do.

14. (Vs. 4) She knew that Isaac was going to give the blessing to Esau.

15. She presents Jacob to the words of his father and is filled with fear, the reason: Esau was hairy, and he was hairless, then he will have me as a mocker and will bring about my curse and no blessing.

16. Rebekah is a warrior: My son, be upon me your curse; just obey my voice and see...

17. Who (Vs. 30) is now the one bringing the stew; had already eaten? But Rebekah is in the midst of her children, to do justice, to which would be taken a nation of twelve sons, who will then be the twelve tribes of Israel.

18. Esau lost his blessing, because it had to be together with the birthright that Esau himself gives to his brother Jacob.

19. "He cried out with a very (Vs. 34) big and very bitter (disgust, painful, sad, distressing, painful) exclamation.

20. (Vs. 33) Isaac shuddered at the deception, but, recovering from the emotion, he confirmed what he had done, the blessing and confirms it with force: and he will be blessed.

21. Feeling filled, rather than ordinarily (usual), with the Holy Spirit when he was giving the blessing to Jacob, it seems as if he perceives that God had interposed His Amen.

22. It was the day, the moment that Jacob was thus confirmed, it was not of man, it was God, in "possession" of the promise.

23. Isaac agreed (ceded) God's designs (purpose), although they contradicted his own expectation and the affection he felt toward Esau.

24. Esau was excluded from his hope for the blessing "which he believed would be reserved for him when he sold his birthright.

25. (Vs. 34) Bless me too.

26. Have you not kept blessing for me? (Vs. 36)

27. It is to be foolish, to be willing to settle for any good like Esau here, he wished for a second-class blessing, as it was a blessing separated from the birthright.

28. It is said: I am satisfied with any blessing from the ground, even if I have lost the blessing of Heaven.

29. This is the blessing he had and from it he had to make the best possible use; ... your room in the thickness of the earth; that it would be more than sufficiently maintained; by his sword he will live – that he would gradually regain his freedom; (2 Kings 8:20-22) In the rebellion of the sons of Edom.

30. It was a blessing far inferior to that of Jacob, to whom God had reserved something much better.

31. In Esau's blessing there is nothing pointing to Christ, nothing to introduce him into God's covenant; without which the thickness of the earth will serve him very little.

32. Isaac was (vs. 28 and 29) for him and in that prayer, he prophesies about him. With three things Jacob is blessed here: (a) Abundance, (b) Power, (c) Predominance (influence) before God and influence in Heaven: Cursed those who curse you and blessed are those who bless you.
