Divine Pressure

Topic: “Divine Pressure” Hebrews 5:8-14 We can see the enthusiasm of the sacred writer when speaking of the priestly order of Jesus (Vs. 1-6). It was something revealing for those Jewish people. Jesus is presented as the appointed high priest, whose origin is in God Himself. It was a sovereign calling and had nothing to do with human genealogy. We were from the dust, and there goes our flesh, but the origin of Jesus is in God. It is that He is God, His origin is in God, His beginning is in God, His birth is in God, because He is not merely man, He is God.

I. And although He was a Son, of origin of God, by what He suffered He learned obedience (Vs. 9).

A. He was perfected in His duty as High Priest, becoming our Savior (Vs. 10).

1. His origin is not from dust, like men, but from God.

2. He could never have become our perfect Savior had He stayed in Heaven.

3. But, through His incarnation, death, resurrection, and ascension, He completed the work necessary to save us from our sins, and now He has acquired glory by being the perfect Savior of the world!

4. (Vs. 11) In this verse, it should be noted that the author has to make a stop to the main issue.

5. Our sacred writer wanted to continue with the theme of the priesthood of Jesus, according to the order of Melchizedek (Vs. 1-6), but it was not possible.

6. It is that he is under "divine pressure" to reprimand readers for their "immaturity" and at the same time to seriously warn them about the "danger of a relapse."

7. It is true "that our understanding" of divine truth is limited by "our own spiritual condition." (Vs. 11,12) “We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. Though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, and not solid food. "

8. The hardened ears “cannot” receive the deep truths!

9. (John 16:12) "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear."

10. It is very true that too many times, in our case as in that of His disciples, that the Lord has many things to say to us, “but we cannot carry them”. Oh my God, forgive me!

11. God has much to say to us, and difficult to explain, for the reason already mentioned.

12. God today uses “divine pressure”, and we should respond with humiliation and disposition.

13. (Vs. 12) The holy author reminds the Hebrews that they had been receiving teachings long enough, that they could be teaching others!

14. But what was tragic was that they still needed to be taught the ABCs of God's Word!

15. (Vs. 13) When they should already be teachers!

16. God’s order is that each believer should mature to the point where he can teach others: children, parents, spouse, family, etc. That is the divine plan.

17. Teach others how to speak, how to live, how to act in everything in life.

18. "...you have become such that you need milk, and not solid food." (Vs. 12)

19. Someone who stagnates is like a child who never progresses from milk to solids and does not grow.

20. (1 Corinthians 3:1, 2) Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly, mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food; for you were not yet ready for it"

21. Likewise, like the child who is left with only milk, there is a lack of growth in the spiritual life in believers.

22. (Vs. 13) He who is a child in the spiritual is "... not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness."

23. Believers who are kept on a "milk diet" are inexperienced, they have no experience and therefore not competent, they are naive, novices in the word of justice. They should not remain as "children."

24. They are listeners of the word, “but not doers.”

25. They lose the Word that they do not use and remain in a state of perpetual childhood.

26. (Vs. 14) If you are in that group, you do not have a keen sense of discernment in spiritual matters. Don't allow yourself to get stuck as a spiritual child.

27. They are “…tossed back and forth by the waves and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming…” (Ephesians 4:14).

28. "Solid food" is for the fully grown, for which, by reason of custom, have the "senses exercised" in the discernment "of good and evil."

29. By "obeying" the light that is received from the Word of God makes one CAPABLE OF EXERCISING A SPIRITUAL JUDGMENT AND SAVING THEMSELVES FROM MORAL AND DOCTRINAL DANGERS.

30. Readers are urged (compelled with a command of authority) to “distinguish” between “good and evil.”

31. Everything in your life that rivals Christ in the affections and loyalties of men is sinful! If you live that way, you refuse to grow up!

32. The world is full of people whose spiritual life has stopped! Don't let this happen to you, and if it did, wake up to the spiritual, feed on the Word and grow!

33. The discernment of good and evil is based on Justice = which is the moral principle that inclines one to act and judge while respecting the truth and giving everyone what is due to them. It is the set of essential values on which a society must be based.

34. Jesus, in his perfection, managed to leave everything finished for our good, for our salvation and spiritual life. You have the upper hand, don't be left behind. Amen.
