TOPIC: “Those Who Tremble at His Word” Isaiah 66:1-2 & 5 When reading Chapter 7 of the Acts of the Apostles we can know that Stephen’s death was because of the truth. At the end of his speech (Acts 7:51), Stephen said to all the priests and members of the Council in Jerusalem: “You stiff-necked people...!” That they were harsh to humble themselves. “...with uncircumcised hearts and ears.” The heart of those religious men had not been cleansed of the impurities of hatred and pride, nor had their ears been cleansed. “You always resist the Holy Spirit...” The danger of man on earth is to resist the Holy Spirit. It is when one is harsh and rejects, challenges, and rebels against the Spirit of God. Let us all clearly understand that there is no age to justify evil or any kind of wickedness. Here in the Church there is no one who is considered special or with exceptions! We are ALL meek or perish! The issue is to fear and tremble at His Word!

I. The humble is comforted by God. Here God expresses Himself about His greatness.

A. (Vs. 1) "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool..." (The platform where the royal throne is placed.)

1. To such greatness, "Where is the house you will build for me and where will my resting place be?"

2. God expresses Himself by giving the people, first of all, a warning concerning His divine majesty. Later, then, He lets them know that He is worthy of owning His own earthly temple (as if He could be contained by space!).

3. Where? What house is this that you are building for me? What place is this for my rest?

4. (Vs. 2 "Has not My hand made all these things...") It is His hand that has created all these things.

5. That is, all things have been done by Me!

6. Absolutely, all things were done and therefore, "they belong to me, that I am their Creator."

7. He does everything, then, be careful of the way we act with what He has created!

8. Do we really want to honor Him with a temple or an earthly house? Is it with our heart that we do it?

9. "...but I will look..." I will consider.

10. "...he WHO IS HUMBLE AND CONTRITE IN SPIRIT AND TREMBLES AT MY WORD."

11. The Lord’s attention will not be in our ritual practices, but IN THE DISPOSITION OF THE HEART!

12. You should take a long trip to your heart; you should visit it every day so that you get to know just how you are, without deceiving it and much less others. God looks at the heart of the man.

13. God says: I will look, take note and pay attention to the prayers! He will pay attention to the humble and simple at heart, to the truthful, to the sincere who truly love him!

14. These are the requirements: one must be poor and humble in spirit!

15. To be able to attend to "MY WORD", one who is aware of his responsibility in "FULFILLING MY WILL."

16. We should already know God! He will never accept arrogance in our lives, you are not superior to anyone.

17. Be careful when you despise the holy, because the time comes when you think you are so superior, and it is because of your great arrogance. For such reason you despise the holy, for you impose your words of superiority speaking of the name of the Lord in vain. Don’t do it!

B. (Vs. 5 “Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at His word: Your brothers who hate you and exclude you because of my name…”) The faithful and fearful of God who tremble at His Word will be persecuted by their own brothers.

1. Be careful in your position as faithful and fearful of God, there will be people who hate you!

2. “…that we may see your joy! Yet they will be put to shame.” Yes, they will be confused.

3. God will be present and will show Himself to THOSE WHO TREMBLE AT HIS WORD!

4. Having denounced the hypocrisy of the nation that mocked the Word of God, the prophet now addresses the fearful of God who tremble at His Word.

5. There is no need to fear for the brothers who did not fear God and what they may feel for you who love the Lord with a pure heart: "...who hate you...", precisely for being SINCERELY PIOUS, and "...and exclude you…”, that is, they cast you out from their company.

6. Do not fear their mockery, for those who mock will be confused!

7. GOD IS IN FAVOR OF THOSE WHO TREMBLE AT HIS WORD! Amen.
