There Is No One Like the Lord Our God

STUDY: #1063 CHURCH IN THE HOUSES FROM: DECEMBER 24 @ 30, 2019

Topic: “There Is No One Like the Lord Our God” Exodus 8:10 There is nothing and no one like GOD! The earth trembles before God! The earth trembles in the presence of Jehovah! (Psalms 114:7; Judges 5:4 “Lord, when you went out from Seir, when you marched from the region of Edom, the earth trembled and the heavens dropped, yes, the clouds dropped water.”) (Psalms 104:32 “…who looks on the earth and it trembles…”) How great is our God! Moses confronted Pharaoh, asking him to let Israel out of Egypt. When Pharaoh refused, God sent Egypt the ten plagues. One of them was the plague of frogs! PHARAOH WOULD HAVE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS NO ONE LIKE THE LORD OUR GOD!

I. (Vs.9) “Moses said to Pharaoh, ‘Be pleased to command me (accept) when I am to plead for you…’”

A. So that the frogs would be removed from Pharaoh and all of Egypt!

1. (Vs. 10) What a luxury Pharaoh gave himself by answering Moses! "… and he said, ‘Tomorrow.’ ..."

2. Pharaoh took his time to solve something so important!

3. He procrastinated! Pharaoh hesitated to solve the evil that was lingering over his land!

4. He did it out of pride. Because he’s arrogant and loves to feel as if he were great. He did it because there’s evil in his heart.

5. He did not care that he and everyone else in his kingdom; in the town, would be destroyed.

6. The plague of frogs was a great misfortune that with a single word from the king's mouth could have been solved for him and the other human beings who lived there.

7. But Pharaoh was only good at postponing the firm resolution (decision) that he should have taken without a delay.

8. And Moses replied: "Be it as you say, SO THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT THERE IS NO ONE LIKE THE LORD OUR GOD."

B. Exodus 15:11 "Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods?"

1. By opening the Red Sea and burying the Egyptians there, Jehovah was seen by His people as a God of infinite power!

2. The people of Egypt had hardened their hearts for the God of power who does not tolerate sin, because He can very well see how much evil sin does to man and He cannot consent to evil.

3. God is very severe with sin; with what has caused so much harm to man on earth.

C. My God! "There is none like God, o Jeshurun, ..." Deuteronomy 33:26

1. Here, in this chapter, Moses blessed the tribes.

2. "There is none like God, o Jeshurun, who RIDES through the heavens TO YOUR HELP, through the skies in HIS MAJESTY.”

3. Brother, who else do you need? I assure you that you DO NOT NEED ME!

4. No idol does what God has done for man on earth!

5. His power and authority are sovereign! (They go above all; He rules) God rides through the heavens, like a King who advances in His war chariot to give His people quick and complete victory. He rides over the clouds with His greatness!

D. 2 Samuel 7:22 "... You are great, O LORD God."

1. David knew, knew, knew: "For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you..." Do you know?

2. God grants David concessions (pleasing) and honor.

3. But in response to that, David never missed an opportunity to venerate (worship, respect the mighty) his God. In David, there was always a great and intense fear of the divine majesty.

4. The closer someone is to God, the brighter we can see His glory shine upon the person! And the more precious we are to His eyes, the BIGGER HE SHOULD BE before our eyes!

E. 1 Kings 8:23 The dedication of Solomon's temple.

1. There was an act of worship and praise towards God.

2. Praise God for who He is. Solomon said: "There is no God like you..."

3. What God is for the people!

4. "... keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to your servants..."

5. "...who walk before you WITH ALL THEIR HEART."

F. 1 Chronicles 17:20 “There is none like you, O LORD, and there is no God besides you…”

1. While David sought God, so did the people. They knew an only God. But when they stopped seeking the Lord, they made wooden idols and became superstitious. They no longer knew God because they stopped hearing. "... according to all that we have heard with our EARS."

G. Isaiah 46:5 The people raised idols, just like today.

1. “To whom will you liken me and make me equal, and compare me…”

2. It is absurd to think that you can represent the INFINITE AND ETERNAL SPIRIT through the figure of any creature.

3. No one has ever even seen the likeness of God. You cannot see His face and stay alive!

4. What image can ever represent the exclusive and absolute Deity?

H. Mark 12:32,33 "... He is one, and there is no other besides Him..."

1. God is one; there is no more than one.

2. God is one, and there is no other!

3. "... love Him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength..."

4. (Deuteronomy 6:4) “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, THE LORD IS ONE.”

5. THERE IS NO OTHER BESIDES HIM! Do you say the same in your heart? Amen.
