TOPIC: Word Of GOD (Part Two) 1 Peter 1:1-25

1. (Vs. 17) "Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, LIVE YOUR LIVES AS STRANGERS HERE IN REVERENT FEAR" We are not only exhorted to holiness, but also to a reverent mind (respect or love that one has). What it means is a respectful "fear", a deep appreciation of who God is.

2. It especially means to be aware of "Him" whom we address as Father. He is the "Same" who judges His children in an impartial way, according to the work done by each one!

3. When we realize the extent of His knowledge and the precision of His judgment, we should live with "a healthy fear" of not displeasing Him.

4. The Father judges His own in this "life." But He has entrusted the judgment of the sinners to the Lord Jesus (John 5:22).

5. We should spend the time of our pilgrimage on earth in fear!

6. "We Christians are not comfortable in this world." We are not from here, we are chosen for Heaven! (Vs. 4) "...and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you incorruptible, uncontaminated and unfading, reserved in heaven for you..."

7. We live in a "strange country", exiled from Heaven (away from the place where one resides)!

8. We should not settle (establish, stay to live) here as if this were our permanent dwelling!

9. Nor should we imitate the behavior of those who dwell on earth!

10. We should always remember our "heavenly destiny" and conduct ourselves as "citizens" of Heaven!

11. (Vs. 18) Before converting, you were not different from the rest of the world.

12. When we were in the world our conversations and way of being were as empty and trivial (common) as the people who surround us (mundane people).

13. Our days as unsaved are described as "...from the empty way of life...", which was transmitted to us by our parents.

14. But we have been redeemed from that futile (low value) existence by means of a transcendental (beyond what is expected) transaction (performed between two) rescue.

15. We were rescued from the bondage of conformity to the world through a payment of infinite value!

16. Nothing of this world can be compared with what the Father gave for our ransom, neither gold nor silver, those are only minerals, only stones; what is offered by the Father is invaluable!

17. (Exodus 30:15) We were rescued from our vain way of living, from what our parents taught us, and it was not with gold and silver that are corruptible things (that can be corrupted).

18. Do you think that with gold and silver you and I could have been rescued from all the evil, sin and wickedness that was in us?

19. There is a value that cannot be compared with anything on earth, the precious blood of Jesus, the greatest and most excellent price that was given for our lives! (Vs. 19)

20. Could those who were kidnapped by sin be rescued with gold or silver?

III. Neither with gold or silver!

A. But with the precious blood of Jesus!

1. Like the blood of a PERFECT LAMB, WITHOUT STAIN AND WITHOUT CONTAMINATION!

2. Here Peter spoke about what the Law was to them, a lamb without blemish!

3. He did not give them another example, but as they knew, respected and were allowed by the Law.

4. Jesus! Absolutely perfect, interior and exterior!

5. Christ is a lamb without stain and without contamination!

6. If one wants to go back to the pleasures and diversions of the world, to become like the world in its false ways, we should remember that Christ shed His blood to DELIVER us from this kind of life!

7. It is unmistakable a disloyalty (which is true and offers no doubt) against the Savior!

8. Let us reason from the greatness of sacrifice to the greatness of sin!

9. Then, let us each determine to break forever with that past life, what cost the life of the Son of God. This is when one turns away from sin!

10. (Vs. 10) The work of Christ for us was not something that occurred to God in the course of history, it was His plan of redemption since before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4).

11. "The Redeemer" was destined to die for us "already before the creation of the world." (Vs. 20)

12. "...in these last times...", that is, at the end of the dispensation (each of the periods of history in which a different form of approach to the divinity has been proposed) of the Law, the Savior came to rescue us from our previous way of living.

13. Peter wants the brothers to see the importance of breaking in a clean way with the system of the world, to do so quickly to be delivered from evil, which is why Christ died.

14. We are in the world, but we are not of the world! (John 17:14)

15. Of us who believe, it is to take the Gospel to the world to deliver them, not to share their sins or condone them (to forgive or ignore them).

16. Demonstrate, never hide, show with our lives that WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD!

17. Do not deny Him!

18. When we become like the world, our testimony is weakened!

19. How do you testify about Him, right or wrong?

20. A change in our lives shows the difference! Amen.
